Meghan Markle Champions The LBD At Women’s Empowerment Reception

We’ve always sung the praises of the LBD and it appears Meghan Markle concurs! Last night saw the princess-to-be champion the faithful little black dress at the Commonwealth women’s empowerment reception in London. Opting for a belted dress by Black Halo dubbed the ‘Jackie O’, paired with Aquazzura’s Milano Pumps, Gucci’s Dionysus suede super mini bag and 18-carat white gold diamond swirl earrings by Birks, Meghan was every inch of sophistication. Make-up was kept to a minimum while her hair was worn up in her signature messy bun. We love this look and it’s possibly up there in one of our top three faves to date. Needless to say we simply can’t wait for the Royal Wedding. Not long left to go!

Forget the LBD. Celebs are embracing the WTS (White Trouser Suit)

At a loss for what to wear on New Years Eve? Look no further than the white trouser suit. A wardrobe staple, the white trouser suit is having somewhat of a fashion moment of late with celebrity starlets favouring a more masculine approach to occasion dressing. Recently, Jessica Chastain stunned in a chic Giorgio Armani suit at a luncheon in honor of her latest movie and let’s not forget how amazing Ashley Madekwe looked at the 2014 British Fashion Awards in Banana Republic’s three-piece ivory suit. Sleek. Sophisticated. Classic. The white trouser suit is all that and more, however it can be VERY tricky to pull off. How not to wear? Very rarely and we repeat “very rarely” is Jennifer Lawrence guilty of a fashion crime but it saddens us to say, the actress committed a major offence with this ill-fitting suit at the photocall for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. To avoid making a similar error, always opt for fitted rather than wide-legged trousers. However, don’t do a Rita Ora and venture to the opposite side of the spectrum with skin-tight trousers and even worse accessory overload. Instead, look to Jessica Chastain and Ashley Madekwe for how to pull off the white trouser suit. Keeping accessories to a minimum, both beauties hit all the right style notes with their outfits. Get the look: We’ve had our eye on this cream wool trouser suit from Reiss and now it’s on sale there’s no holding us back! We know, it’s not white…but it’s close enough. Complete your look with a white cami, these satin t-bar court shoes and this opulent nude box clutch.       (Slim-fit Wool Cream Blazer, £265 £185 available at Reiss, High-Waisted Cream Trousers, £130 £95 available at Reiss, Camellia Ecru Jersey Cami, £18 available at Reiss, Satin T-bar Court Shoes, £130 £95 available […]

Megan Fox is the ultimate yummy mummy-to-be in sexy LBD

Some mums-to-be like to disguise their bump for as long as they can, while others like to embrace it. After all, it’s a natural and beautiful thing. Megan Fox falls into the latter category, and we’re super-glad too because we think she looks fabulous in her skin-tight little black dress which she wore to the Avon Foundation’s #SeeTheSigns of Domestic Violence Campaign  in New York. All pregnant women can take tips from Megan Fox; heck even non-pregnant women can take sartorial and beauty tips from the actress and new face of Avon. Who wouldn’t want to look like her?! Megan kept out the crisp chill of the New York air by opting for a long-sleeved, high-necked dress – which she also teamed with tights – but still managed to look sexy thanks to the tight nature of the frock, accompanied by some chic, glam black heels and Hollywood starlet wavy hair. Crimson nails completed her drop dead gorgeous look; and we all know how red nails drive the boys wild…

Jennifer Aniston ditches her go-to LBD for Hollywood premiere

No need to stop the press, Jennifer Aniston is wearing black again. But, before you let out an exasperated sigh, roll your eyes and move on, we urge you to examine the pic closely. Go on, closer… Yep, Jen-An might be wearing her go-to red-carpet colour, but she’s left the LBD at home and has opted to wear some very daring shorts to the Call Me Crazy: A Five Film premiere instead. Now we didn’t expect that, did we? Jen accessorised with a chic double breasted top from the Christian Dior spring/summer 2013 collection (chic is always encouraged when going for something so daring and flesh-flashing on the bottom), a very on-trend messy pony tail, and a golden LA-girl tan. Gorgeous. And can we all just remind ourselves that Jen is in fact in her forties? Hard to believe her Central Perk days are so far gone!

The LBD at its finest courtesy of Allison Williams

Our newest TV obsession is America’s Golden Globe winning show Girls – we don’t know what took us so long either – and we’re particularly hooked on the off-screen sartorial choices of its leading ladies. Allison Williams, who plays the part of Marnie Michaels, is the one of the show’s token hotties, and it’s not hard to see why thanks to her luscious locks, enviable bod and perfect skin (among other things). She can pretty much wear anything she wants, but we love how she kept things clean and simple in a trusty little black dress at the Girl Rising New York premiere. (FYI – Girl Rising is an incredible, inspirational film directed by Richard Robbins, recounting the extraordinary stories of nine girls around the world – narrated by big-name stars like Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Selena Gomez, Freida Pinto, Kerry Washington and Salma Hayek among others. Click here to read more about this must-see film… plus it couldn’t be more appropriate for today, i.e. International Women’s Day!) If ever you feel bored of your little black dress, just look at this pic for proof that you can never go wrong with a trusty LBD. Sure, we might not all have access to this stunning version from the Christian Dior spring/summer 2013 collection, but the formula is still the same. Hair up, matching black pumps, fierce pose, winning smile – bam!

Georgia May Jagger is Best Dressed of the Week in killer LBD

Although a flurry of model personalities attended the Fashion for Relief charity dinner on Thursday, hosted by super Naomi Campbell in London, dressed in black, (Karen Elson, Kate Moss, Lily Donaldson and the even hostess, to name a few), ‘Material Girl’ Georgia May Jagger was the one who stood out for us. The leggy model looked stunning in a black micro dress with cut-out detailing, opting to go for a monochrome look by pairing her LBD with white strappy sandals. The daughter of Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger, and famed for her gap-toothed smile, Georgia beamed at the cameras looking radiant as she went almost makeup free, choosing to dress up her look with glossy, tousled curls set in true off-duty model style. A super-hot LBD such as Georgia’s hardly needs anything to enhance its overspill of sexiness, and with a fine silver bracelet, Georgia sealed the style deal! Top marks for perfecting the art of effortless cool, Georgia!

Rose Byrne looks pencil cut perfect in her D&G LBD

Last Wednesday, Australian actress Rose Byrne rocked up to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in a seriously sexy, figure hugging, Dolce & Gabbana LBD – and yes, we’re extremely jealous of her hot-bod right now. The Bridesmaids actress looked effortlessy stunning in the statement black dress, complete with matching jet black pumps and a seriously sultry hair do – we can’t get enough of her new bold fringe. The little black dress is undoubtedly a wardrobe must have for any woman, but Rose certainly proves less is more when it comes to evening attire, keeping her look completely accessory free – not even a bangle in sight. Well done Rose. But what do you think of her minimal look? [poll id=”171″]

Rihanna’s super-short LBD

When we go shopping we’re usually in a pair of comfy Converse trainers and something that’s easy to whip on and off to avoid changing room stress. But Rihanna does things a little differently. Spotted in Westfield shopping centre in Sydney, Rihanna proved she’s a true pop diva and never has a day off from being totally fierce in this all black ensemble. Wearing her red hair poker straight, she showed off her toned legs in a mini shirt dress and a killer pair of Christian Louboutin courts – and Riri knows no celeb look is complete without a pair of Rayban Wayfarers. Her look may be high maintenance for a browse around the shops but that burly bodyguard beside her is probably there to carry her heels when she gets achey. Oh how the other half live… What do you think of Rihanna’s outfit? Daring or just far too diva? [poll id=”47″]

5 Christmas Party Hair Styles We Love

‘Tis the season for Christmas parties, so it’s the perfect time to revamp your look for the festive period. You’ll want a hairstyle that’s easy to master, looks great and last the 2am stumble home. Here are some hairstyles that are perfect for the Christmas party. Let it grow Extremely long hair took over the catwalk this season. If you’re not blessed with luscious, long locks you’re probably running out of time to start growing, but another option is to use temporary clip in hair extensions. Waiting for your hair to grow naturally is a thing of the past, as clip in additions are easy to fix in. Choose long wavy locks, or even clip in ponytails in different colours for a dramatic party look. Half crowns and halos Be a queen this Christmas with a Dutch crown or halo braid, which work best with long hair. To start, section off a deep parting on the left side of your head. Divide the hair into three parts and begin to braid using the Dutch braiding technique picking up new pieces of hair as you go. Once you’ve finished plaiting your hair, wrap it around, creating a crown or halo and fasten with bobby pins and set with hairspray. One of the most simple forms and achievable in 2 minutes, is the half-crown. Simply create two plaits above your ears and join at the crown of your head, you can also use a fishtail or french braid to get a similar look. Under braid ponytail Braids have officially taken over with lots of variations and funky styles. Once you’ve mastered the French braid, take it to the next level with the under braid ponytail. It’s a perfect hairstyle if you’re planning on wearing a simple LBD or backless number this Christmas. The […]

5 Ways Accessories Can Update Your Outfit

Are you sick and tired of wearing the same clothes day in and day out? No, you don’t need a brand new wardrobe. Sometimes you can simply jazz up your outfits to appear trendy and smart. With the help of the right accessories, even the most boring wardrobe can be miraculously transformed. Here are five tips on how you can do that.   1. Enhance Your Bright Outfits It is a misconception that accessories are not required with bright coloured dresses. In fact, accessories can add that extra ‘oomph’ to any dress. However, if it’s a bright dress, go for accessories with a minimalist approach. A slinky chain or bracelet or sleek earrings can make the look very sophisticated.    2. Try to Accessorise Neutral Colours Neutral colours are present in everyone`s wardrobe. Colours like brown, olive, black, white and navy give you the ideal opportunity to accessorise. Play with colours when you opt for neutral coloured dresses. A Little Black Dress (LBD) is a versatile piece which is apt for a dinner date, party or an enjoyable evening with friends. Accessories can change a plain LBD into a dramatic head-turning outfit. Pair the LBD with statement earrings, chunky jewellery or a stylish watch. Ensure that you do not overdo the look though! Select a scarf with bold prints for a lively look or a knitted scarf for a chilly day. Add a bit of drama to your look with skinny or wide belts. Contrasting colours will make your look much more interesting. For a white dress or light coloured dress, choose a multi-coloured necklace or earrings for a trendy look. An orange or yellow coloured scarf can add life to an olive coloured dress. Spice things up a bit with items from your wardrobe. Put on a bold necklace […]

Fresh Ways To Style The Classic Ankle Boot This Winter

For many of us, ankle boots are the ultimate winter footwear staple. They go with just about everything and can be dressed up or down with very little effort. Pair with jeans and an oversized coat for a casual daytime look, or team with a classic LBD to put a fresh twist on evening wear for the winter. There are countless ways to work this comfortable, statement piece into just about any outfit combination. A winter-appropriate take on evening wear Eveningwear is perhaps one of the most difficult ways to work the ankle boot, but it can be done with the right styling. Take a leaf out of Alexa Chung and Jessica Stein’s books by using boots to add a tough element to an otherwise feminine outfit. The more fanciful the dress the better, as the boots help to give this girly ensemble a cool, edgy vibe that stands high above the rest of the fashion pack. This look is particularly workable if you’re a little taller, as ankle boots make a welcome change to skyscraper heels.  If you still want to add some extra height, simply choose a boot with a platform or a statement heel – the tortoiseshell heel boots from Tu are perfect for making a statement on a budget. One thing’s for sure, the extra protection and structure you get from an ankle boot is certain to make the finished look extra comfortable. Keep it cosy with slouchy jumpers and midi skirts Much like dresses, skirts don’t typically lend themselves to being paired with boots that cut off at the ankle. If you style this the right way, you’re on to a winner – it’s a fresh look that was seen everywhere this London Fashion Week. The trick to making this look work is all about […]

Top Tips For Turning Heads This Party Season

Are you filled with conflicting  emotions every time party season comes along? Excited to let your hair down, catch up with friends as well as indulge in a few drinks and naughty sweet treats, but anxious at the thought of finding suitable outfits for all the occasions you’ve got lined up? We know the feeling. It’s always the case every year right? Lots of clothes but never anything to wear and a budget that won’t let you splurge on a whole new wardrobe. But here’s the thing, you don’t actually have to go all out and buy loads of new sparkly pieces. With some planning and a few key investments, no-one would ever know that you’ve recycled an outfit or two. Here’s our top tips to make sure you’re nothing short of flawless this festive season… 1. What’s the dress code? Is it a swanky affair requiring a ball gown or a more chilled out evening at a nice restaurant, in which case jeans and a sparkly top will do? Ensure you nail your outfit by checking the dress code of all your social events before hand. Because, while the saying goes that “you can never be too overdressed”, let’s be real you’re going to be very, very uncomfortable turning up at a party in a floor-length knock-out number when everyone else is keeping it appropriately casual. Plus adequate planning will enable you to decide how to mix and match your outfits to get the most wear out of them. 2. Invest in key essentials They are certain fail-safe items that’ll see you through every festive season – a metallic clutch, a stand-out printed dress, a flattering tuxedo, strappy sandals and a satin blouse to name a few. Make a list of every single must-have you’ll need this season and don’t skimp on quality as these pieces […]

From airport-chic to the red carpet, outfits are tough, sexy and bold. Case in point, Kourtney Kardashian gave us major life at LAX earlier in the week in leather leggings paired with a biker jacket and bandanna choker. Also getting in on the choker action, was Alice Eve at the Criminal premiere in NYC, as she poised perfectly in a black stretch-cady Michael Kors gown, while model Bella Hadid showed off her pins in a figure hugging Versace LBD at the International Center of Photography’s 2016 Infinity Awards. At the MTV Movie Awards lots of our favourite starlets glamorously channelled the trend, namely Kendall Jenner who gave her legs extra mileage in a pair of super hot Dsquared 2 Riri sandals while the effortlessly cool Cara Delevigne took to the red carpet in a sheer cut-out panelled Balmain jumpsuit and Jimmy Choo stilettos. Oh…and let’s not forget our dear Alexa (who’s always ahead of the game). The T.V presenter was the epitome of gothic glamour at this years BRIT Awards in a strapless velvet midi dress teamed with killer heels. Want in on the action? Risk It Or Play It Safe: What To Wear To Your Office Christmas Party?

This post is sponsored by the 7th Chamber It’s a fashion dilemma we encounter every year. Whether to go all out with our office Christmas party outfit and let our co-workers see another side of us or take the Kate Middleton route and play it as safe as possible. Admittedly we tend to prepare two options and decide the night before depending on our mood. Recognising the challenge us ladies face when the much anticipated office party comes along, House of Fraser have created a fantastic video as part of their “Your Christmas, Your Rules” campaign, focused on the sartorial debate. Enlisting the help of two of our favourite style experts – fashion blogger Susie Bubble and fashion journalist Camille Charrière, the pair battle it out (in the video above) to decide whether minimal or quirky (think Carrie Bradshaw circa Season 3) rules this Christmas. We’re pretty much somewhere in the middle of safe vs risk when it comes to Christmas party dressing here at MFL HQ, opting for the best of both worlds with a traditional LBD teamed with fun, bold accessories. However, we do agree that there’s no time like Christmas to step out of your comfort zone and experiment with looks you’d never dream of trying any other time of year. In truth, whether you opt to play it safe or take a risk, you’re going to want to turn heads, that’s for sure. So here’s two statement-making options depending on where your heart lies…. PLAY IT SAFE OR TAKE A RISK…   The choice is yours! It’s #YourChristmas and #YourRules… Tell us, will you be clashing your prints and mixing textures for a glam avant-garde look or playing it cool with some classic yet sexy silhouettes? All featured products in the Play It Safe and Risk It edit available at House of Fraser

What to Wear to a Charity Event?

What the North East may lack in sunshine, it more than makes up for in style. The area has a rich history of statement fashion and pioneering design. Of course, true style comes from one’s ability to tailor their look to any occasion, and with Amilio Couture’s Charity Fashion Show just around the corner, it is important to know how to bring the best out of yourself for such a prestigious event. Amilio Couture’s Charity Fashion Show is being hosted by St James’ Park, Newcastle, on Thursday 30 July, and is being held to help raise money for Children with Cancer UK. As well as being for a great cause, the event also gives you the chance to see Amilio Couture’s summer range, while enjoying a champagne reception, canapés, a Toni and Guy goodie bag on arrival, and a prize raffle. Perhaps the most exciting element of the night, though, is choosing what to wear! Charity events call for a particular type of fashion, where a balance of style and elegance must be perfectly calculated to not only dress appropriately, but to turn heads. With the charity fashion show being a North East event, we have kindly been supplied with some advice from Jules B, a local fashion boutique. Here are a few garments and accessories that would guarantee your status as the belle of the charity ball: The Little Black Dress — Versus Versace Mini Dress For the classic formal-chic look, the little black dress cannot be overlooked. Clinging to all the right places, the dress is flexible in that it can form part of sophisticated and casual ensembles. It is the perfect garment for a charity event, especially for those who value comfort as well as glamour. For a designer LBD, the Versus Versace cut-out mini dress is […]

Showing off her curves, Beyoncé wore this £68 sequined bodycon beauty by Topshop. Yep, we too were in shock when we saw the price tag. Not bad at all! As the dress won’t break the bank you can afford to splurge a little…. Pair the stunning LBD with these sparkly heels by Kurt Geiger for a look that’s simple yet stunning! Ellie Goulding vs. Blake Lively…Who wore Balmain better?

The nifty LBD never fails to impress with its versatile ways:  elevating a simple look to award-worthy heights, and being one of the easiest wardrobe staples to take from day to night; you won’t be stuck for options.  And, impressing the hell out of us this week in their respective LBDs are Ellie Goulding and Blake Lively, who both wore the same Balmain number nearly five years apart! Cast your mind back to September 2009, when Blake Lively gave this sequined number its first outing at the HBO post-Emmy Awards party. Playing up its glistening embellishment and exaggerated shoulders to full effect, Blake paired the dress with Jimmy Choo sandals and emerald hued earrings. Slicked back hair, neutral make-up and a healthy glow topped off her look with perfection. Giving the dress its second outing was Ellie Goulding, who struck a red carpet pose at the L.A. premiere of Divergent, back in March. Opting for open hair and natural make-up, the singer showed off the dress’s plunging neckline with aplomb. Matching Christian Louboutin pumps completed Ellie’s relaxed-glam look. So, who scores the hottest LBD wearer award? Both ladies brought their A-game and looked super-hot in their respective looks, but Blake steals the show for us. The dress’s strong silhouette demands a fuss-free approach to styling and Ellie’s long locks unnecessarily conceal the statement shoulder detail. We’re Team Slicked Back, all the way! Whose look wins for you? [Images: Ellie; Blake]

Olivia Cooke nails the LWD trend in Mulberry

Say goodbye to the LBD, because the little white dress is having a serious moment! White dresses – long, short, little, large and all else in-between – are hotter than ever right now, and the female stars of Hollywood definitely got the memo. Emma Watson, she who can do no wrong on the red carpet these days, wowed in a white Ralph Lauren dress at the Noah premiere earlier this week, and now Olivia Cooke is following in her footsteps too. The beautiful British actress kept things British last night, as she attended The Quiet Ones red carpet in London wearing a chic white dress from the Mulberry spring/summer 2014 collection. Olivia’s look was age appropriate, fun, extremely flattering, and her up-do and hot pink shoes were the perfect accompaniment to complement the dress. We wouldn’t change a thing!

Lindsay Lohan’s Sober Style

Lindsay Lohan’s back in the last chance saloon. Oh, how familiar those words are. Post DUIs, car accidents, jail time and yet another stint in rehab, she’s sobered up and seems to be staying clean for the moment. So, what better way to show us this than with a new reality television show documenting her struggles? Teaming up with Oprah, the star most commonly referred to as ‘troubled’ let us in to her world and her attempts to restart her failing career, with the help of a film crew following her every step of the way. Of course the big question that was on everyone’s mind was: what will she be wearing? The Clothes Despite battling with drugs and alcohol and courting tabloid controversy on a regular basis, Lindsay’s style has always been one to keep an eye on. Her outfits are usually splashed across the fashion pages – as well as her mug shot… But let’s focus on the fashion now – both in the good and the bad. Yay or Nay: House of Holland Starburst Disco dress

Got a line-up of social status-boosting bashes, but no outfit to accompany these party dates? Fear not, because we’ve hunted down the perfect dress for that fashionably late entrance. Eschewing the traditional LBD for a fun yet evening-appropriate dress is guaranteed to bag you envious stares at your next shindig, and we’re digging this House of Holland Starburst Disco dress (£330) to do just the job. But, before jumping the (sartorial) gun and diving in with the plastic, take a step back and analyse the Starburst dress’s purchase potential. Need a little helping hand? Check out the reasons we’re saying Yay and Nay to clicking home this beauty below… Yay Flattering fit: The contoured bodice silhouette and high waist make for great fitting dress. Alternative party look: Sick of sporting a yawn-inducing LBD? The Starburst Disco dress is an ideal, colour-pop alternative. Day-to-night: Although this dress is pitch perfect for the dance floor, it wouldn’t look out of place for work or a lunch date, either, Just pair with boots and a leather jacket. Nay One-wear-then-despair: Given the bright starburst print is a little hard to miss, ask yourself this: will this dress see the light of day again, after its first wear? Price: At £330, it’s not extortionate, but neither is it cheap. An expensive hit, if your social diary’s a little full… A-line skirt: Although the form-skimming silhouette of the dress makes for a great look, the A-line skirt bottom may not be so flattering on all figures. House of Holland Starburst Disco dress, £330, available at Asos.

Imogen Poots is Worst Dressed of the Week in Louis Vuitton

In a week that gave us great looks, some no so great ones crept onto the red carpet, too. The offender in question: Imogen Poots in Louis Vuitton at the New York screening of her latest movie, That Awkward Moment. The actress opted for a top-to-toe look for the spring 2014 collection, including an embellished LBD with cut-out waist detail, and tights covered in Stephen Sprouse-style graffiti. Although the runway look featured a halter dress, Imogen opted for a deep scoop neck style, rounding off her look with platform sandals and a rather peculiar hair do… Make-up was kept simple, accentuated only by heavily kohled eyes and a slick of black nail colour, which lent to a grungy feel. As for the hair, we’re not too sure what Imogen’s styling team had in mind! The intentionally messy down-do looks a little too unkempt for our liking and those bangs aren’t doing any favours to neaten up the look, either. This outfit could certainly have done without the footless tights, and a more refined hairstyle would’ve complemented the dress’s ornate, evening feel. What do you think? Does this look work? Christopher Kane bandage dress: Yay or Nay?

New year, new dress. You know the drill! But we’re not talking any old yawn-inducing number. No. Turn your attention to this eye-catching creation from British fashion genius, Christopher Kane. Spring/summer 2014 was all about show-stopping numbers splashed in painterly designs, and Kane’s take on the season’s colour-crazed affair, with the elastic-panelled bandage dress (£1,100), is a tamed version for the more refined dress wearers among us. The flattering fit, sexy, off-the-shoulder detail and striking effect of primary colours on a black background give this dress serious look-at-me appeal, but would you take the plunge and own it? Check out the reasons we’re saying yay and (very sensibly) nay to this Kane delight below… Yay Updated LBD: We’re always behind a spin on the classic LBD, and this dress offers the perfect excuse to flip the evening classic on its head for some fashion fun. Flattering fit: The stretch-jersey fabric and bandage style of this dress make for a form-flattering silhouette. Perfect, if you’re planning to show off your curves Kim K style. Great length: The knee-length cut makes it an ideal contender for the office – if you’re one of the lucky creative types with a fashion-forward boss, that is!  Nay Trend-centric: Season in, season out, Kane’s dresses are the must-have piece (loop tape velvet dress, anyone?), so you’re guaranteed to find this dress on a legion of Kane’s fans. Price: Sitting pretty at a hefty £1,100, your bank balance won’t be looking so smug post-purchase! One-wear dress: Although the brights-against-black contrast is a winner, how many times can you (honestly) say you will make a repeat-wear with this number? If it’s destined for the one-wear-then-despair pile, steer clear. But, if you love bringing back seasonal big-hitters, shop away. Christopher Kane elastic-panelled bandage dress, £1,100, available at Liberty.

Lena Dunham, Allison Williams and the rest of the Girls cast wow on Season 3 premiere red carpet

Despite their distinctively different body shapes, sartorial tastes and wardrobe preferences, it looks like the four leading ladies of Girls actually sat down and discussed their Girls Season 3 premiere outfits prior to their arrival on the red carpet. How else would you explain their colour coordinated and complementary ensembles, eh? Girls creator Lena Dunham definitely pulled out all the stops with her appearance, opting to wear a sparkly Rochas full-length dress paired with matching pumps and sleek, straight hair. Jemima Kirke looked like a vintage goddess in her floor-length ivory dress, old Hollywood glamour hair and striking red lipstick, while Allison Williams, who has been reigning supreme on the February fashion glossies, didn’t disappoint either, channelling a modern day Princess in her silk Christian Dior dress. Zosia Mamet went for the simple option by choosing a chic Saint Laurent LBD; we love the hair and golden accessories too! Who was your best-dressed Girl?

Celine Dion is Worst Dressed of the Week in Atelier Versace

Here’s a look that has fiercely divided opinion this week. Celine Dion took to the stage at the The Voice season 5 finale earlier this, week dressed in a rather raunchy Atelier Versace number. And for us, it just doesn’t work. The singer wore the teensy black dress from the Fall 2013 collection to perform her latest single, ‘Incredible’ ft.Ne-Yo. The embellished, high neck LBD features a rather revealing cut-away panel at the chest, showing a lace corset underneath, with full length sleeves and a dangerously high hem. There is nothing wrong with the dress per se, but paired with Celine’s open, tousled locks, its looks a little too busy around the neck area. And, then there’s the cardinal rule of dress dressing: chest or legs, not both. Although cleavage spillage is kept to a maximum with this look, the thigh-grazing length of the dress competes all to much with the revealing chest area detail. We’re pretty envious of the 45-year-old’s amazing figure, but would’ve preferred a longer hemline. The Fall runways were all about peek-a-boo detailing, which makes this dress ideal, but a case of wrong styling got the better of Celine’s look. Finishing off her look were simple black pumps, and strong black eye make-up. What do you think of Celine’s look? Does it work for you? [Images: Style.com; Zimbio]

Kelly Rowland vs. Tess Daly…Who wore Emilio Pucci better?

Given it’s the heightened season of the LBD, we thought we’d pay homage to our favourite wardrobe classic with a frock-off! Dividing opinion this week in a form-fitting Fall 2012 Emilio Pucci dress is Tess Daly and Kelly Rowland, who both rocked the same dress to different events. First to slink into the dress was statuesque beauty Kelly Rowland, who took to the BET Honors red carpet, back in January. Sporting a curly do with strong eye makeup, Kelly paired the side slit LBD with black pumps and a true Hollywood smile. But catching up with Kelly in the style stakes was Tess Daly, who wore said dress to the Pride of Britain awards in October. Tess opted to accessorise with a large clutch and metallic gold pointed pumps. Safe to stay, her side swept glossy curls stole the show with this look, but the neutral makeup balanced out any 80s vibes! However, being a frock-off means one champ, and one champ only…and this week, our vote goes to Brit beauty Tess Daly. Although, both Kelly and Tess’s hairdos do all the, erm, talking, we like how Tess has lifted her look with subtle-yet-strong accessories. Those gold pumps and legs for days win hands down. Whose look wins for you? [Images: Kelly; Tess]

Well, apart from a sun-drenched winter sun break or limitless present shopping spree (wishful thinking for us), how about a little rule-breaking in the festive spirit? We’re talking turning traditions on their head, and, say, swapping the sloth life for a day of sporty activities with your BFF on Boxing Day. Steep vs. Cheap: The perfect evening cover up

OK, so the chill has well and truly set in, and we’re dreading the consequences of dropped temperatures on our evening wardrobe. The last thing you want to do is sport an unsightly coat over your evening look, so we’ve taken to scouring the web to bring you stylish cover ups for a night out- and, to suit all budgets! Got spare cash to burn? Snap up the Alice + Olivia Kayden cropped faux fur coat (£234.98) from The Outnet, in all its sumptuously soft glory! The cropped style means it won’t swamp your entire outfit, whilst the boxy fit is on point for autumn/winter 2013. Splashed with evening jewels, heels, and a lasting spritz of your favourite scent, and it’s off to the party you go. But, if you’re on a limited budget when it comes to compiling cover up options for going out, then your best bet is sticking to the interwebs’ high street, aka ASOS! Ideal for chilly nights out, we’re totally digging the loop stitch bomber cardigan (£55). In an evening-perfect shade of silver, this bomber incorporates some of the season’s biggest trends – the sporty silhouette, and textured exterior – and would look perfect perched on the shoulders, atop your go-to LBD. So, will you splurge or save? Steep: Alice + Olivia Kayden cropped faux fur coat, £234.98, available at The Outnet. Cheap: ASOS bomber cardigan, £55, available at ASOS.
