Paris Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Elie Saab, Stella McCartney, Saint Laurent, and more!

Spring/summer 2015 collections from Stella McCartney, Saint Laurent, Elie Saab and Giambattista Valli hit the Paris Fashion Week catwalks yesterday, so let’s take a look at our highlights… Stella McCartney gave us effortless yet cosy chic with her light, roomy silhouettes found in everything from dresses to jumpsuits, while Saint Laurent was all about the sexiness – and the seventies – with the mismatched floral and leopard prints and multitude of fabrics. Short shorts are a definite must next season according to Hedi Slimane! We were once again mesmerised by what Elie Saab had to offer – this time choosing the deep blue sea as his inspiration for the show. Oceanic colours from aquamarine to coral were in abundance, and lace, sparkles and exquisite embroidery were plentiful. Take a look at all of yesterday’s PFW highlights below: Elie Saab Stella McCartney Giambattista Valli Saint Laurent

Elizabeth Olsen sparkles in Elie Saab Couture for Godzilla London premiere

It looks like Elizabeth Olsen can rock a number of different looks quite effortlessly – none more so than the elegant look! Elizabeth attended the Godzilla premiere at London’s Leicester Square at the weekend, and looked breath-taking in a floor-sweeping Elie Saab Couture dress from the autumn/winter 2013 collection. We commend her decision not to ruin the aesthetic of the dress by covering up with a big coat or jacket – there was a bit of a chill in the London air on Saturday night, but you wouldn’t know it judging by her smiles in this picture. She let the sparkles on the dress do all the talking (and sparkling!) by choosing not to wear any jewellery on her neck, and instead, opting for some bedazzling earrings and subtle silver rings on her fingers.

Couture Fashion Week highlights from Elie Saab, Armani Prive and Valentino

Yet another exquisite few days in Paris for Couture Fashion Week, as Elie Saab, Armani Prive and Valentino each presented their latest collections. Elie Saab, one of the kings of the A-list red carpet, didn’t disappoint with his collection which was comprised of dresses in his signature floaty, embroidered and applique styles. Always one of the sweetest and prettiest collections to hit the catwalk season after season! We couldn’t help but envision Cate Blanchett in the majority of the Armani Prive dresses; firstly because we can imagine Cate Blanchett in pretty much everything, but also because we have the Oscars on the brain. Although there was also a lot of slick and fierce tailoring in abundance, the sparkles and more glam ensembles are definitely what got our attention. It’s awards season, we can’t help it! Taylor Swift steals the Country Music Awards show in Elie Saab Couture

When we think of modern day country music, we think of Taylor Swift. And when we think of Taylor Swift, we can’t help but think of enviable, effortless, wow-worthy red carpet style. The 23-year-old country star didn’t disappoint us as she attended the Country Music Awards wearing one of the most breathtaking outfits of the night – a red, floor-length Elie Saab Couture dress from the autumn/winter 2013 collection. The Country Music Awards are definitely her chance to shine, and she made the most of that opportunity! The dress complemented her figure and skin colour perfectly, and was still age-appropriate despite its dramatic nature. Taylor looked like country music Royalty on the red carpet, completing her look with an effortlessly chic low bun, a flawless complexion and matching bold red lipstick. She kept all other accessories to a minimum, leaving the embellishment on her dress and her personality to do all the sparkling on the red carpet. This is one of our favorite Taylor Swift looks of the year – do you agree?

Elie Saab designs limited edition Evian bottle

What do Paul Smith, Diane Von Furstenberg and Jean Paul Gaultier all have in common? Apart from the obvious “they are kick-ass awesome designers” answer, the one we’re looking for this morning is that they have all collaborated with Evian. And now, Lebanese fashion designer extraordinaire Elie Saab can join that list too as he is the latest creative to team up with the French water brand. His very own Evian bottle was reportedly inspired by fine fabrics and intricate embellishment, and is something he describes as a nod to purity. “I wanted to respect Evian as well as having my signature on the bottle, so I decided to make the design very transparent, so that you can see through to the purity of the water,” he said.  The limited edition bottles come in three different sizes – 330ml, 75ml and 1.5l – and will be available worldwide from November. We reckon it will look perfect sitting on the Christmas table – who needs a centerpiece when you have an Elie Saab Evian bottle?! [Telegraph]

Paris Fashion Week SS14 highlights from Elie Saab, Stella McCartney, Saint Laurent & more

Another day at Paris Fashion Week, and the likes of Elie Saab, Stella McCartney, Saint Laurent, Giambattista Valli and Emanuel Ungaro all presented their spring/summer 2014 collections. As we are huge fans of highly glamorous red carpet worthy dresses, Elie Saab is always one of our most highly anticipated shows on the Fashion Month calendar… and luckily, the Lebanese designer didn’t stray from his usual ultra glam aesthetic for his spring/summer 2014 collection. His models floated down the runway in his effortlessly beautiful and intricate dresses which were comprised mainly of delicate lace and sexy Chantilly lace, and also strutted their stuff in panelled jumpsuits, fierce minis, floral pieces and even a seventies-inspired halter neck dress. We know that Stella McCartney likes to dabble in sportswear (being very active herself and also collaborating with Adidas) and that was definitely translated in her spring/summer 2014 collection. Sporty pieces with a masculine meets feminine theme were running strong throughout the very wearable and very versatile collection.  Favourites include the cap sleeve crocodile print dresses, organza dresses, layered zip detail dresses, and some stunning trouser suit combos. Handbags were held under the arm a’ la Victoria Beckham! Over at Saint Laurent, Kanye West’s best pal (not!) Hedi Slimane presented what can only be described as a versatile and courageous collection. It lacked a strong, possessing theme which his previous outings had, which means that he is less about defining the Saint Laurent brand and putting his stamp on it and more about having fun with it and experimenting. Both Hedi Slimane and the Saint Laurent Paris label are growing up and growing into their new roles; this is Saint Laurent as you’ve never seen it! Dakota Fanning wows in Elie Saab Couture at Venice Film Festival

Dakota Fanning has once again taken our breath away – this time with her appearance at the 70th Venice International Film Festival over the weekend. The blonde 19-year-old actress stunned in a midnight blue Elie Saab Couture gown which was very apt considering she was there to promote her brand new film Night Moves. While Dakota opted to go for the fairytale princess factor by opting for a sparkly floor-length dress, there was a certain amount of daring sex appeal to it… just look at that plunging neckline! The rest of her look was kept simple, with only Rona Pfeiffer and Cathy Waterman rings on her fingers by way of accessories. We think her natural freely-flowing hair stopped the look from looking too prom-like so we’re glad she didn’t go for an intricate up-do on this occasion.

Emma Watson wears Elie Saab for Madame Tussauds waxwork

Think Emma Watson looks porcelain-perfect in the pic above? That might be because you’re looking at a picture of her brand new waxwork which has just been unveiled at Madame Tussauds in London. Pretty uncanny, right? Emma’s waxwork presents the beautiful actress at her best, and we can’t fault the outfit which chosen for it either – a chic backless black dress designed by Elie Saab! If you cast your minds back to December 2011, you may remember that Emma actually wore the autumn/winter 2011 dress while attending an event for Lancôme. We reckon it was one of her finest sartorial choices to date, so kudos to the Madame T’s gang for choosing it. And of course Elie Saab’s generosity for donating it. Do you like Emma’s waxwork? Will you be going to Madame Tussauds to see it? [Telegraph]

Paris Fashion Week AW13 highlights from Elie Saab, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu and more

That’s it, guys – Paris Fashion Week officially drew to a close last night, and Fashion Month has come to an end. It’s been emotional! Before we get the tissues out and sob uncontrollably, we still have highlights from the final day to cover, as the Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Vionnet and Elie Saab autumn/winter 2013 collections made their way down the catwalks of Paris. Louis Vuitton kicked the final day of PFW proceedings off in slouchy style, as sleepwear seemed to be a big theme given all the bathrobes that came out. Marc Jacobs even slipped into his own red jammies at the end of the show too – pretty interesting! But perhaps the best thing about the Louis Vuitton show was the big finish – we’re not talking fireworks or pyrotechnics, we’re talking the one and only Kate Moss walking down the runway and modelling the final look. She’s still got it! And speaking of big, spectacular finishes, Lebanese designer Elie Saab gave us something to remember by presenting a host of wow-worthy red-carpet-ready gowns fit for Princesses and Hollywood royalty. We think Elie Saab truly deserves the task of closing Fashion Month – what a way to end it! Louis Vuitton Miu Miu  Vionnet

Beyonce dazzles at Life is But a Dream premiere in sparkly Elie Saab

We’ve long regarded Beyonce as one of the biggest and most powerful female music stars of our time, but lately she’s been taking it to a whole new level. Not only did she put on a spectacular show at the Superbowl earlier this month, but she’s also snagged Vogue’s coveted March cover, wowed on the Grammys red carpet in a monochrome Osman jumpsuit, signed a multi-million Pound sponsorship deal with Pepsi, and of course made her very own HBO documentary. We’re pretty sure we missed a few things out but you get the picture. So, given all of Bey’s aforementioned successes, we really didn’t think it could get any better. Until we saw her turn up to the premiere of her Life is But a Dream documentary last night. We don’t think there are enough superlatives in the English dictionary to describe how stunning she looked in her sheer, sparkling gown by Lebanese designer Elie Saab. Now we know why Bey went for the understated look for the Grammys – she was saving the best dress for her own premiere! This dress has everything – it’s sexy, it’s sparkly, it accentuates each and every incredible curve on her body perfectly, and we genuinely cannot fault it. Flawless doesn’t even cut it!

Couture Fashion Week highlights from Jean Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab and Valentino

Quite a lot of Couture Fashion Week highlights to get through this afternoon, so let’s crack right on. Elie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino all presented their Spring Couture collections in Paris, and we’ve selected a few of our fave looks from each show. Jean Paul Gaultier loves a good theme when it comes to his collections – this time round he was inspired by the gypsies of Rajasthan, India, which was very evident in the rich colours, vibrant patterns, intricate detailing and heavy embroidery. We love the voluminous beehives and the reworked edition of the cone bra, too – a JPG classic! Elie Saab did as Elie Saab does and blew everyone away with the sheer romanticism and fairytale elegance of his collection. An abundance of sheer, lace, sequin and pastel red carpet worthy dresses for those all-important Oscars, not to mention editorial content for upcoming fashion glossy pages. We don’t think this collection should be overlooked for upcoming A-lister weddings either! Finally, Valentino was simply magical with some of the most finely crafted, perfectly sculpted pieces we’ve ever laid eyes upon. We’re glad the Valentino-approved florals remained in the collection, with the flirty structured dress Cara Delevingne stepped out in being one of our favourites. Elie Saab  Valentino

5 of our all-time favourite Elie Saab dresses

A name synonymous with red carpet dressing so ethereal, it leaves us speechless every Awards Season; Elie Saab’s designs are a sartorial dream come true. The Lebanese couturier has dressed everyone from Nicole Kidman to Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez in his elegantly refined, red-carpet ready gowns, so we don’t expect his bucket list to be very long! But even with all his striking designs on the super-bods of every super-being to reside in the Hollywood hills, Elie Saab only became a household name just over a decade ago, when Halle Berry wore one of his creations to pick up the ‘Best Actress’ award at the 2002 Oscars for her role in Monster’s Ball. And since, the designer has clearly cast an unbreakable spell over A-list town – we can’t get through a red-carpet soirée without a Saab creation making a scene-stealing appearance! Lea Michele in the designer’s crystal-encrusted halter neck design at last week’s Golden Globes was a perfect example of the atelier master’s jaw-drop effect. In honour of one of most reputed names rolling off the tongues of the rich and famous in celeb and fashionville, here are five of our all time favourite Elie Saab dresses for you to drool over. Beyonce, 2007 Golden Globes In Bey’s, or should we say Destiny’s Childs terms, this gown was definitely Bootylicious! Form fitting, it showed off the singer’s assets to perfection, and a plunging neckline and sequin embellishment oozed glamour. Halle Berry, 2002 Oscars This was the look that launched a thousand gowns, and put Elie Saab on the red carpet map. Halle Berry picked up the biggest gong of the night, and looked equally outstanding! A sheer, embroidered body contrasted against a merlot-hued skirt spelt perfection; a defining and unforgettable look, even 11 years on! Rihanna, 2012 American Music […]

Taylor Swift scoops Best Dressed of the Week in Elie Saab

The slightest mention of Elie Saab is enough to get our red carpet gown radar buzzing! Girl of the moment, Taylor Swift, looked stunning in an Elie Saab Spring 2013 gown at the 2012 Aria Awards in Sydney. Taylor channelled Grecian goddess vibes, looking ethereal in a sleeveless chiffon gown, and appeared every inch the red carpet queen! Completing Taylor’s look was a chic, twisted up do; her trademark glossy golden bangs and strong eyes that really set off her beautiful eye colour. Even though the shade of the dress is subtle, and it’s quite a dreamy creation, we’re glad Taylor didn’t go accessory-crazy, instead opting only for statement crystal studs. A classic red carpet look, (or in this case, black carpet!), we can’t fault Taylor’s flawless style and love her in Elie Saab as much as we do in her music videos!

Blake Lively and Leighton Meester rock Georges Chakra and Elie Saab for Gossip Girl

To celebrate Gossip Girl returning to our screens tonight for what will be the sixth and final season (we promised we wouldn’t get emotional, but excuse us while we bring the Kleenexes closer just in case) we’ve decided to feature the Princesses of the Upper East Side in our daily celeb style feature. And Princesses they certainly are, as both Blake Lively and Leighton Meester put on their finest couture while filming their latest scenes for the show. Blake looked sublime in a metallic and white Georges Chakra Couture gown from the Spring 2011 collection, while Leighton Meester looked as chic and elegant as always in a blue Elie Saab Couture creation. We have no idea what’s in store for their respective characters Serena and Blair, but we predict it’s going to be as scandalous as always! Gossip Girl is on ITV2 at 8pm tonight – will you be tuning in? [Image]

Jessica Biel to wear Elie Saab down the aisle?

Despite our earlier predictions that Jessica Biel might enlist the help of Giambattista Valli or Oscar de la Renta to design her wedding dress, it’s actually been revealed that Elie Saab has been given the honour instead. “She’s having Elie Saab make her wedding gown,” an insider reportedly told Life and Style. “She’s been a fan of his for many years.” And we think that he is actually a pretty spot-on choice too, because every time we’ve seen Jessica, or should we say the future Mrs Justin Timberlake, step out in his designs, we’ve been rendered speechless by her beauty. Spellbound, if you will. Look to the above Elie Saab dress at a recent Total Recall premiere for proof! As much as we know Jess and Justin will want their privacy for their big, intimate day, we hope we’ll get to catch a glimpse of her wedding dress. Do you think she made the right choice by picking the Lebanese designer?

Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale are modern-day Princesses in Elie Saab and Naeem Khan

If Cinderella’s fairy godmother was to whip up a dream gown in 2012, we bet it wouldn’t be hugely dissimilar to the dresses Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale were wearing at the Total Recall premiere in Berlin last night. Both ladies, who have dazzled us on their Total Recall promo tour from the get go, have really upped the ante this time around, and walked the red carpet in two ultra-stunning dresses. Jessica went for a sparkly Elie Saab creation with a very daring, plunging back, which she teamed with a very apt ballerina-style bun. We think the fringe made it a tad more modern and alternative, which is Jess’s style all over. Perfect! Kate Beckinsale looked just as ravishing, as she hit the red carpet in a plunging cream-coloured dress fresh from the Naeem Khan autumn/winter 2012 collection. We utterly adore her intricate low Hollywood bun too – she couldn’t have chosen a more fitting hairstyle for the outfit. Nice work ladies, you both looked flawless! [poll id=”361″]

Karlie Kloss stuns for Elie Saab autumn/winter 2012

We read a rather interesting quote yesterday about Nina Ricci’s Peter Copping thinking the models of today are rather disposable. On a probably unrelated note, let’s all divert our attention to model of the moment Karlie Kloss, who is posing up a storm in the brand new Elie Saab autumn/winter 2012 ad campaign. Now we don’t know about you, but we’d be quite happy to wager that Karlie Kloss could be in this modelling biz for the long haul. Models like her don’t come along very often so when they do, they’re anything BUT disposable. The American teenager isn’t the only young model to take the fashion world by storm, but it’s safe to say that she is one of the shining examples of fresh, new (and hopefully long-lived) talent. Who’s with us? And while we’re in a gushing kind of mood, we’d also like to say that the Elie Saab campaign is predictably as gorgeous as ever, not just because of Karlie, but because of the designer’s fine, fine work proudly on display. We can totally see that dress adorn the body of one of the Hollywood greats at next year’s Oscars, can’t you? Kudos all round!

Emma Stone wows in Elie Saab for The Amazing Spider-Man London premiere

American Vogue’s most recent cover girl Emma Stone completely razzled and dazzled em at last night’s London premiere of her new film The Amazing Spider-Man in Leicester Square. We’ll be honest – we would have been happy with Emma in virtually anything. We’ve fallen head over heels for her these past few months, and our girl crush reached new, stratospheric heights when we saw her grace the cover of the fashion Bible last week. But we don’t think we’re being biased as we sit here ranting and raving about how awesome she looked last night, do you? The blonde cutie wowed the crowd in a plunging Elie Saab jumpsuit from the autumn/winter 2012 collection – and added a pop of summer-ready colour by way of an orange waist-cinching belt. The perfect amount of boldness, elegance, sexiness and sparkle for a big premiere; Hollywood newbies: take note, this is how it’s done!

Angelina Jolie turns heads in Elie Saab

As one of the most beautiful women in the world, Angelina Jolie could probably walk a red carpet in a bin bag and look stunning. However, she looked particularly lovely at the 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival in California at the weekend. Usually seen in black or rich gem colours, Angelina took us by surprise when she turned up in this grey-beige Elie Saab jumpsuit. We love the pleat detailing and the way it hangs beautifully. The halter neckline also makes an unexpected change on the red carpet. They remained mostly hidden all evening, but under the jumpsuit she was also sporting a gorgeous pair of Jimmy Choo heels. We love her sleek honey-highlighted hair and that signature Jolie cat eye makeup. Add to this a few pieces of minimal jewellery and she reminded us why she is Hollywood Royalty.

New E! modelling show Scouted rips off Anja Rubik’s Elie Saab advert

The claws are well and truly out on Twitter today, courtesy of top model Anja Rubik. She took to the social networking site to express her feelings towards the Scouted advert, as she believed it was a direct, and in her words, “shameless” copy of her highly successful and uber-glam advert for Elie Saab’s fragrance “Le Parfum” which debuted in May earlier this year. The advert featured her posing on a busy street in a billowing Elie Saab gown, which the Scouted advert has very accurately replicated.

Top 50 Fashion Designers In The World

Ever wondered who the top 50 fashion designers in the world are? Well, wonder no more. We’ve put together a list most famous fashion designers from around the globe. From past icons to current trailblazers who are setting the trends right now, here’s a comprehensive deep dive into the best fashion designers without whom the fashion industry just wouldn’t be the same. 1. Coco Chanel If there’s one iconic fashion designer who’s influenced the industry more than any other, it’s definitely Coco Chanel. She brought something new to the table, freeing women from the restrictions of frills and corsets, instead offering up simple, comfortable styles. And today, more than 50 years after her passing, her influence is still felt. Coco Chanel’s early life wasn’t an easy one, marked by tragedy and hardship. Her mother passed away when she was young, and she and her siblings had to be raised at an orphanage. Despite everything, Chanel was determined to make a name for herself in the world. Her designs stood out from the crowd, effortless and refined. She transformed fabrics that were traditionally associated with men’s clothing, like tweed and jersey, into chic, comfy pieces for women. The late designer will always be remembered for her creation of the little black dress, which is still a wardrobe staple for many. Chanel also branched out into the fragrance industry, launching her famous Chanel No. 5 perfume in 1921. She was a trendsetter in more ways than one, using groundbreaking marketing techniques to promote her work. And even now, you can spot her signature CC logo anywhere. 2. Giorgio Armani Giorgio Armani is a name that screams luxury and style, and this Italian designer has been a prominent figure in fashion since the 70s. Born in Piacenza, Italy, in 1934, Armani initially studied […]

Our 10 Best Dressed At The Oscars 2019

And so the night we’ve been waiting for finally arrived. Held at the Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre and without a host, the 91st Academy Awards took place yesterday. Olivia Colman stole our hearts with her acceptance speech. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper nearly brought us to tears with their performance of Shallow, while Bohemian Rhapsody took home the most awards with Black Panther, Roma and Green Book coming a close second. But as always, it was the red carpet dresses that had people talking. Who was wearing what, who looked good in what, and whom should have sacked their stylists on the spot. While we have a few thoughts about the latter, here we’re giving a rundown on which celeb outfits we loved. Hollywood glam at its finest, Amy Adams looked amazing in custom Versace Letitia Wright kept it simple and sophisticated in Dior haute couture Ashley Graham accentuated her show-stopping figure in Zac Posen Constance Wu turned heads in a canary yellow Versace gown Emilia Clarke looked gorgeous in custom Balmain Jennifer Hudson was stunning in an Elie Saab one shouldered dress Jennifer Lopez shone in a metallic turtleneck Tom Ford fitted dress. With a corset waist and encrusted Swarovski jewels along the bust, Hadid is possibly our best dressed of the week in this number. The model complimented her outfit with Bulgari jewellery and matching Roger Vivier heels. Other guests at the party included Kitty Spencer, Liam Paynee and Jasmine Saunders. Our 10 best dressed at the 2015 Grammy Awards

This year’s Grammys were eventful to say the least but not even Kanye could steal the spotlight from the ladies that ruled the red carpet. The biggest trend without a shadow of a doubt was a heavy dose of bling, glam and figure hugging dresses, but thankfully there were those who broke the rules and thought outside of the box. Naturally Rihanna rebelled and we’re so glad she did! Love or hate her outfit at least she gave us something different! Here’s our 10 best dressed celebs… Wearing one of our fave couture looks this season courtesy of Giambattista Valli, Rihanna was a delight in this show-stopping, pink strapless gown. Cue all the “cupcake” jokes….. Always one of our red carpet favourites, Chrissy Teigen failed to disappoint in this perfect white floor-length gown by Emilio Pucci. Gwyneth Paltrow showed off her gorgeous long legs in this Saint Laurent sparkly number paired with beautiful stilettos.   Custom made by Proenza Schouler, Beyoncé opted for a plunging v-neck gown to accentuate her bootylicious curves. Katharine McPhee’s first Grammy red carpet saw the singer looking lovely and demure in an Emilio Pucci coral cut-out evening gown with silver hardware. Deciding not to opt for a traditional dress, Gwen Stefani as usual was on trend in this edgy Atelier Versace strapless jumpsuit with netting detail. Yes, yes and yes! Elie Saab is to thank for this ADORABLE combination of evening gown meets party dress complimented perfectly with Giuseppe Zanotti heels and modelled to perfection on Taylor Swift.   Rocking none other than Tom Ford, Nicki Minaj was nothing short of stunning. Classic, understated and absolutely gorge. We’ve been loving Versace’s red carpet gowns of late and this beauty on Ariana Grande is no exception. With chainmail detail and cut-outs in all the right place, Ariana gets a thumbs up […]

Five minutes with designer Gyunel Rustamova

Maleficent meets modern day Cinderella. That’s probably the best way to describe designer Gyunel Rustamova’s aesthetic. Her designs are as empowering as they are feminine, romantic yet edgy and embody all the aspects of women that make us so unique. Born in Azerbaijan, Gyunel, founded her eponymous label after a successful career as an artist. Her rich culture along with her love for art can be found in her breathtaking collections which encompass ready-to-wear, couture and a private dressmaking service all available at her atelier located in the heart of South Kensington. We caught up with Gyunel to talk all things fashion, beauty and travel. What’s a typical working day like for you?   It’s very multifunctional, I am the operational manager and the creative director of the brand, so I chase tasks from administrative sides and design in between. The day runs out quite quickly, so at the end of the day I always wish there were 5 of me or that the working day was longer. Favourite season? Spring, summer, autumn or winter?   I would not choose in-between them to be honest, I like the fact that every 3 months we get the transition, I would not want to live somewhere where its cold or hot all year around. Your SS15 collection, “tells the story of a nomadic traveller”.  Are you a keen traveller yourself? Yes, the collection was firstly inspired by me being the nomad and not settling down anywhere, I do feel that I am the world citizen and have no problems with bonding with people of different backgrounds. Deeper and second stage of inspiration for the collection was more visual, about beauty of the desert sand and crawling scorpions with their footprints. ….and your favourite holiday destination and why? I love travelling back home to Baku each season as I meet my family […]

Jennifer Lawrence is picture perfect at Hunger Games world premiere

Yesterday evening, A-listers and fans alike descended on London’s Leicester Square for the world premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. We must admit we were SUPER excited to see what the films leading ladies had in store for us and thankfully we weren’t disappointed. Jennifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Banks equally stole the show. Naturally as the face of Miss Dior, Jennifer Lawrence hit the red carpet in Christian Dior. Complementing her amazing figure, Jen wowed in a fitted off-white diamond shaped quilted dress. Emphasizing her eyes, she kept her make-up clean and pulled her hair back for an ultra-chic look that we think is her best to date. On the other side of the spectrum, Elizabeth Banks nailed the fairytale trend in a romantic couture gown by none other than the master of red carpet dresses, Elie Saab. We literally squealed in delight at the sight of Banks in this opulent, floral beauty of a gown. We can’t wait to see what the ladies have in store for us for the rest of the tour. [Images]

Angelina Jolie exudes sinful sexiness in Versace at Maleficent LA premiere

Angelina Jolie has made our jaws drop with her flawless red carpet appearances over the years, and we reckon that akin to her black Versace dress that sparked “leg-gate” at the 2012 Oscars, her latest look is going to go down in history too. The actress, humanitarian and overall sex goddess (we think most men and women will agree with that last one, regardless of sexual orientation) owned the red carpet last night, as she attended the Los Angeles premiere of her highly anticipated film, Maleficent. She attended the premiere with her fiancé Brad Pitt, and wore a strapless black Versace dress which looks like leather but was actually made entirely of rubberised silk. Pretty neat, right? Both Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning played tribute to their characters from the movie – Elle looked like fairytale princess in her sparkly Elie Saab gown, while Angelina exuded dark, sinfully sexy dark glamour. We can’t wait to watch Maleficent over the weekend; and we bet we won’t be the only ones either!

The 27th Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards: The best dressed!

We couldn’t think of a better awards ceremony than the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards to follow the high glamour and magnitude of the Oscars. It’s a fun event that allows the young stars of Hollywood to let their hair down and experiment with their sartorial choices by way of silhouette and colour – plus it also gives them a chance to show off their golden skin from the Los Angeles sun with some super mini dresses if they choose. And a lot of them did! (Who can blame them?) Lea Michele was one of our best-dressed gals on the night, who looked cute yet still fashion forward in a pink Elie Saab creation. The perfect outfit for the occasion we think you’ll agree! Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco, who is fond of a princess dress on the red carpet, pleasantly surprised us with her on-trend Rebecca Minkoff shorts-and jacket combo which she teamed with an effortless updo and legs that seemed to go on for days. Although some big names like Katy Perry, Jessica Alba and Ashley Tisdale were noticeable absent (unlike last year!) we still think the red – or should we say orange – carpet was bursting with wonderful outfits! Here are our best-dressed ladies: Lea Michele in Elie Saab Kaley Cuoco in Rebecca Minkoff Selena Gomez in Dolce and Gabbana Victoria Justice in Atelier Versace Bella Thorne in Valentino America Ferrera in Veronica Beard Debby Ryan in BCBG and Sportmax Ariana Grande in Aiisha Ramadam Jayma Mays in Timo Weiland Zoey Deutch in Osman Who gets your best-dressed vote?

WATCH: The 86th Academy Awards (Oscars 2014): The best dressed!

The wait is finally over – the biggest red carpet day in Hollywood has officially arrived, and if you’ve been following us on Twitter, you’ll probably already know that we’ve been pretty excited about it! Popcorn, coffee, tablets (the technological kind), laptops and phones were on standby throughout the night to make sure we didn’t miss a single second of the 86th Academy Awards! We were waiting for 12 Years a Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o’s arrival with baited breath, and think she definitely saved the best dress for last. She stepped onto the red carpet in a custom-made Prada dress that came in a stunning duck egg blue colour, complete with the hottest accessory of the night: a sparkling head band! Cate Blanchett – another one of our red carpet faves – didn’t let us down with her sartorial choice either, looking sensational in a Giorgio Armani dress that she owned from the second she stepped out of her car. Charlize Theron wowed the crowd in a black Dior gown (it pains us to say it, but we think her Dior dress trumped Jennifer Lawrence’s one – we still love you though, J-Law!), as did Kate Hudson and Jessica Biel in their respective and sensational Atelier Versace and Chanel Couture dresses. And it goes without saying, but Angelina Jolie stole the show in her bedazzling Elie Saab Couture dress and more or less put everyone else in the shade when she and Brad Pitt arrived just in the nick of time. Once again, we think the stars outdid themselves on the red carpet this year, meaning we had a bit of a tough time narrowing down our ultimate favourites. Check out our highlights from the Oscars 2014 red carpet, and don’t forget to tell us who gets your best-dressed vote […]

The Brit Awards 2014: The best dressed!

Last night some of the biggest names in the music industry walked the red carpet at London’s O2 for the 2014 Brit Awards, looking absolutely head-turningly fabulous in the process. Beyonce didn’t actually walk the main red carpet, but she stole the show for us sartorially and vocally. As the surprise performer of the night, Bey wowed the crowd with her performance of XO, and also made jaws drop thanks to her shimmering, figure-hugging Vrettos Vrettakos gown. She looked like a modern day mermaid! Katy Perry proved that we don’t need to wait for the Oscars to see new-season sparkly dresses hit the red carpet, as she stepped out in a glittering Julien Macdonald dress hot off the autumn/winter 2014 catwalk while presenting an award on stage. Rita Ora added some much needed colour to the red carpet by way of an attention-grabbing yellow Prada dress – gorgeous doesn’t even cut it – and Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Iggy Azalea went bold and sexy in the classic wowsome colour, red! Take a look at our best-dressed below and let us know who gets your ultimate vote! Beyonce Knowles in Vrettos Vrettakos Rita Ora in Prada Katy Perry in Julien Macdonald Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Saint Laurent Iggy Azalea in Elie Saab Jessie J in Julien Macdonald  Pixie Lott in DKNY Kylie Minogue in William Wilde Daisy Lowe in Sister by Sibling Foxes in Mark Fast Ellie Goulding in Vivienne Westwood  Kimberley Walsh in Blumarine  [Images]

The 56th Grammy Awards 2014: The best dressed!

We were quite happy to sacrifice another night’s beauty sleep for the 56th Grammy Awards which took place in Los Angeles yesterday, as the red carpet was as riveting as ever! We’re eternally grateful for the invention of satellite TV and live streams, otherwise we wouldn’t have got the full “chain mail” effect of Taylor Swift’s stunning Gucci Premiere dress which was the talk of the red carpet and MFL HQ this morning. Another lady who got us talking for all the right reasons was Katy Perry, who gets the award for “most apt dress” thanks to the Valentino Couture music note dress she stepped out in. She gets extra points for lifting a look off the Couture Fashion Week runway so soon after its catwalk debut! Rita Ora decided to go for a short, sweet and sexy look on this occasion, swapping her usual gowns for a dazzling, reflective Lanvin dress. Well, if you have a body like Rita’s you might as well make the most of it and show it off, are we right? Check out the full list of ladies who impressed us on the Grammys red carpet last night; who gets your best-dressed vote? Katy Perry in Valentino Couture Taylor Swift in Gucci Premiere  Rita Ora in Lanvin  Alicia Keys in Armani Prive  Iggy Azalea in Elie Saab  Zendaya Coleman in Emanuel Ungaro  Sarah Hyland in Emilio Pucci  Ciara in Emilio Pucci  Pink in Johanna Johnson Anna Kendrick in Azzaro  Madonna in Ralph Lauren Ariana Grande in Dolce and Gabbana Anna Faris in Fitriani

The Critics Choice Movie Awards 2014: The best dressed!

It was another big night for the stars of the silver screen last night, as they walked the red carpet for the 19th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held in Santa Monica. Although it wasn’t as big an event as Sunday night’s Golden Globes, and a few of our faves were noticeably absent (where were you, Jennifer Lawrence? Sad face!) the attendees still pulled out all the stops and wowed us with their red carpet sartorial choices. Lupita Nyong’o once again stole the show for us, this time opting to wear a white Calvin Klein Collection dress for the occasion. We know we’ve been going on about her all week, but we think our obsession is justified. And it doesn’t look like we are the only ones to love her, as she picked up the Critics Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years a Slave. Amy Adams is another lady we are watching with hawk eyes during this awards season, as she once again blew us away in a bold coloured frock; this time it was a gorgeous pink Roland Mouret dress! Take a look at our best dressed ladies on the red carpet and let us know who your favourite is. Lupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein Collection Amy Adams in Roland Mouret Jessica Chastain in Nina Ricci Cate Blanchett in Lanvin Margot Robbie in Elie Saab Sandra Bullock in Lanvin Aisha Tyler in Tadashi Shoji Camila Alves in Paula Ka Kristen Bell in Pamella Roland

Sandra Bullock, we love your style!

We couldn’t help but say “wow” when we saw Sandra Bullock walk the red carpet in London a few days ago for the Gravity European promotional tour. Then again, Sandra has been on a sartorial winning streak these past 10 months; so much so that we found it pretty tricky to narrow down our ultimate favourite looks from this year alone. With a lot of umming, ahhing and overall deliberating, here are five of our fave Sandra Bullock looks of the year. 1. Sandra’s legs are definitely two of her best features, so we totally don’t blame her for wanting to show them off. With her perfect pins, sleek glossy hair, youthful appearance, and a white Giambattista Valli mini dress, she definitely gives girls half her age a run for their money. 2. Despite walking the red carpet with a certain Mr George Clooney, all eyes were definitely on Sandra Bullock thanks to her red hot J Mendel dress and flawless Hollywood hair and make-up. 3. She was competing with the cream of the crop, the finest A listers in the world, but we think Sandra Bullock definitely held her own and stood out at the Oscars at the beginning of the year. And we think her stunning Elie Saab dress and sleek locks played a big part in that. 4. Sexy Sandra – it definitely has a nice ring to it, and that’s all we were thinking when we saw her turn up on The Tonight Show in this lovely lacey (and racy) Azzaro number. Miaow! 5. We love it when Sandra experiments with colour; her hair and skin tone make certain colours look really striking on her, and this cobalt blue Alberta Ferretti jumpsuit is a fine example. Which is your favourite Sandra Bullock look? Tweet us your […]

Remember when Harrods teamed up with Disney for that extravagant and magical Disney Princesses window display? Well, now you finally have the chance to own one of the stunning gowns designed by the likes of Oscar de la Renta, Elie Saab, Versace and more for yourself, as they are going under the hammer to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. “The timeless stories of our Disney Princesses continue to be enjoyed by families around the world, so it has been fantastic to see their individual qualities celebrated by globally renowned designers,” said Matthew Grossman, a spokesperson for The Walt Disney Company. “We are delighted that Disney enthusiasts and fashion fans will now have the chance to own a piece of the magic with this once-in-a-lifetime auction whilst also helping us to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity which we’ve been supporting for many years.” We couldn’t think of a better cause, and we hope the dresses will go to very good homes. Cannes Film Festival – Cleopatra special

The sartorial big guns were out for the Cleopatra premiere at the Cannes Film Festival – so much so that we actually developed a bit of a migraine trying to narrow down our best-dressed ladies. Lots of arguments at MFL HQ about who would secure a top spot! Dita von Teese was easily one of the best-dressed, looking like red hot sexy vintage goddess in a lacy Elie Saab Couture dress. Her flawless porcelain skin, old Hollywood curls and ruby stained lips contributed to the look’s overall wow factor! Also going for the classic Hollywood look was Jessica Chastain, who took our breath away in a white floor-length Versace collection dress. The hair, the jewellery – we loved it all! Rosario Dawson killed it on the red carpet in a floor-length bedazzling Marchesa Resort gown. Not only did it fit in with the Cleopatra theme, but it was also exactly what we expect from a Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Full-on glamour and sparkle! Araya A Hargate also gets a mention for channelling a Disney princess on the red carpet; we’re not sure which one though – maybe an infusion of all of them? We thought she looked magical in her Zac Posen spring/summer 2013 gown – the bodice makes it harder to pull off than a normal fairytale-inspired dress might, but we think she owned it! What do you guys think?

Viktor and Rolf to make Haute Couture comeback!

Exciting times ahead for Viktor and Rolf. It’s been reported that the Dutch designer duo will be making a very welcome return to Haute Couture, as the House of Viktor and Rolf has officially been listed as a Correspondent Member in the Haute Couture schedule. They join the likes of Valentino, Giambattista Valli, Elie Saab, Armani and Versace in the prestigious category. The boys will be staging their first Haute Couture show of 13 years in Paris this July, so we haven’t got long to wait to see what they have up their sleeve. Viktor and Rolf shows are never boring though so it looks like we are going to be in for a real treat as far as both the actual collection and the show itself are concerned. [Telegraph]

Kate Hudson blows us away in thigh high Reem Acra gown

Yesterday we gushed about how well Kate Hudson could pull off “understated sexiness” but her look at last night’s Tiffany & Co Blue Book Ball was anything but minimal. We’ll stick with the “sexiness” though, as were struggling to think of a time when the gorgeous actress has looked better! Kate Hudson joined host of leading ladies from the likes of Michelle Williams, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, Carey Mulligan and Jessica Biel for the party, but she definitely walked away with the “best dressed” prize in her stunning Reem Acra gown with a thigh high split. And in the iconic Tiffany turquoise colour as well – something tells us this was no coincidence. The timeless old Hollywood waves in her golden hair and blindingly sparkly earrings completed her glamorous look perfectly. Muse’s Matt Bellamy is one lucky man! Ps: Jessica Biel and Carey Mulligan also got our sartorial seal of approval in their respective Elie Saab and Victoria Beckham outfits. Don’t they look beautiful?!

Olga Kurylenko gets it right twice in one day for Oblivion promo

Stunning Olga Kurylenko treated us to two gorgeous red carpet looks while promoting her new film Oblivion (also starring Tom Cruise, in case you hadn’t guessed from the pics) in Russia yesterday. The Ukrainian beauty kicked off the proceedings in a burgundy Stella McCartney pre-fall 2013 dress for the photocall in Moscow. It was clearly a chilly day – hence the tights and greyness in the background – but we commend Olga for showcasing the dress in all its autumnal glory and opting out of wearing a coat or jacket. She then upped the ante for the main premiere, and stepped out in a thee-quarter length dress from the Elie Saab spring/summer 2013 Couture collection. The nude heels, lack of jewellery and all other accessories and tied-back hair ensured that all attention remained rightfully on the Couture dress. We do love the red lippie though – adds just the perfect amount of additional colour! [Images]

Top 10 AW13 trends you can wear now

With Fashion Month well and truly over, have you been left with an impatient, fluttery feeling in the pit of your stomach from witnessing next season’s fashions? Naturally, fashion types want it all now, RIGHT now (and some do – catwalk fresh ‘n’ all!), but being six month behind the lust worthy collections doesn’t have to prove so painful. See, trends do a fair amount of season-hopping, and, just because the fashion calendar is currently on AW13, doesn’t mean you can’t recreate what you’ve just seen on the runways with your current wardrobe. So, to help you beat the fash pack and get ahead of the style game, we’ve picked out the top 10 AW13 trends that you can wear right now. Until next season, enjoy! Checks and Plaid Although Saint Laurent gave us copious amounts of plaid for AW13, as did 3.1 Phillip Lim and Emilia Wickstead; Dries Van Noten led the trend for SS13, with beautiful sheer plaid, layered in a wearable way.  Blue The new black, blue is having quite a moment! Roland Mouret, Elie Saab and Fendi made having the blues look fashionable for SS13, whilst Barbara Tfank, Oscar de la Renta and Michael Kors brought it bang up to date for AW13. Volume Cocoon coats, sloping shoulder knits and generously cut skirts were big (pardon the pun) at Emilio de la Morena, Stella McCartney and Céline for AW13, but Daks, Eudon Choi and Nina Ricci are already championing oversize for Spring. Minimalism Maxmara, Ports 1961 and Stella McCartney steered the minimalist movement for SS13, but AW13 saw Victoria Beckham, Céline and J JS Lee make us pine for sleek lines and fuss-free fashion. Wardrobe staples in a clean, print-free palette are winners. Capes Batman has never been chicer. Chloe, Valentino and Victoria Beckham made us […]

The Vanity Fair and Elton John Oscars after parties: The best dressed!

So we’ve pretty much exhausted the coverage from the 85th Academy Awards red carpet arrivals, but that doesn’t mean we’ve finished with this year’s Oscars altogether, oh no. In true Hollywood fashion, some pretty spectacular after-parties followed, and once again they came courtesy of Vanity Fair and Elton John. Cue another best-dressed list which was pretty hard to conduct because the famous faces of Tinsel Town really “brought it” in the sartorial sense. Some ladies continued with the elongated and elegant dresses (i.e. respective Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress winners Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway) while others decided to go more fun and flirty and flashed the flesh in some shape or form. Take a look at some of our favourite after-party looks – did yours make the list? Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad Couture  Nina Dobrev in Naeem Khan  Kate Bosworth in Giambattista Valli Miranda Kerr in Valentino Louise Roe in Monique Lhuillier Kate Beckinsale in Monique Lhuillier Nicole Richie in Roberto Cavalli Fan Bingbing in Elie Saab  Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein Anne Hathaway in Saint Laurent Paris Miley Cyrus in Azzaro Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez  Heidi Klum  in Julien Macdonald  Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier Alessandra Ambrosio in Zuhair Murad Couture  Allison Williams in Valentino Zooey Deschanel in Valentino  Britney Spears in Michael Cinco Couture
