No to Gold Teeth!

The president of Turkmenistan has urged his people to resist the fashion for gold-capped teeth.

He’s damn right. Gold teeth should be avoided by everyone (except Johnny Depp, he can do whatever he likes!)

Many people seem to base their opinions without proper knowledge of the subject to which they are speaking. Gold teeth is a basic necessity for dentistry in some areas of the country. Besides the fact that gold has been used for thousands of years for dental purposes, most of the patients that get solid permanent gold crowns simply can’t afford porcelain veneers. They come in needing major bridge work or orthodontic work and don’t have $10,000. This can be done with gold at a fraction of the cost and done properly by a licensed dentist. Unfortunately there are many people taking advantage of our young black youth by selling these grills. Grills or fronts are usually done by a jeweler and they come in and out of your mouth. Not only are they ripping them off with the cheap gold they use, but many young men are coming in with permanent damage to their jaw bone. Going to a jeweler for your teeth is like going to a plumber for your heart. He can unclog your pipes, but how good of a job can he do? Like many fashion trends of today, gold teeth grew out of a neccessity in the black community. Let’s not be so quick to judge because I know a many of young and old black men with gold teeth who are good hard working people.
