I think the fashion line is fabulous; just watched Oprah (11/11/05). The only thing that irritates me about fashion lines is that the AVERAGE person a) can’t fit into those clothes and b) can’t afford those clothes. I’m in college, heading to law school. Why does the fashion industry think that $100 for a blouse is REASONABLE? What about the 90% of the country who doesn’t make millions? I think those in fashion need to think about the majority of people and not those with fat pockets. Otherwise, I do think HOD has beautiful clothes, just pricey.

I had no idea about this new line, until today on Oprah. I assumed it was going to be a HOT Mess like the rest of her unfashionable designs. I must say ladies, I was very impressed! I look forward to purchasing something in the very near future. Finally, Tina understands the difference between SEXY & SLEEZY….

Congrats on your new success. The clothing line is beautiful. I’m a mother of two boys who like to dress down most of the time because I cant find clothes that suit my personality or style. I love how H.O.D. collaborates the past w/the present. If you have a model search looking for an everyday women to model. I will be one of the first in line.

i agree with some of you, i heard about this line on e-news and was excited about this, so i checked in, and agree, we average people who’s salary is not huge, cant afford this line, i’m not saying, sell items dirt cheap, but come-on, $110.00 for jeans….PLEASE, we un-city people, cant afford them, but we still want to look classy, and up to date, i love how she looks and no offence, but come on she makes millions. sell to the middle folk. we just want to look just as fab. as her.
I am feeling you Becky. Beyonce is my girl but $100.00 for a pair of jeans is a bit much. A large majority of DC fan base is adolescent girls and young women that are not making that kind of money.

Some of the clothes were quite alright. And i did noticed Mrs Knowles get a lil irritated when Oprah made the comment about people need jobs to purchase. She should be embarassed. Before she become rich could she have afforted the highly over-priced-so-call-good-quality-fabric-fashions. These prices are clearly exploitation of our people. All of us do wanna look nice, but we all have futures and retirement to worry about. And not to mention the rising cost of gas. I guess they’re counting on those ignorant sistas who’d rather be carring her last dollar on her behind than in a Roth IRA, or pay rent late and shop. I’m sorry honey but some of us contrary to your beleif does possess some common sense to know when we are being hoodwinked and bamboozled.
Props to Oprah for the “you need a job comment” This crap is way overpriced and they are using sweat shops at that!!! Miss Tina should be embarrased by saying her clothes are affordable… HA!!

I too saw Friday’s episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show wit Ms. Beyonce and Tina Knowles. I was very excited about the “House of Dereon” clothing line. The clothing is very different & unique, just like me. I liked a few of the pieces that were shown, but some of them were a bit outrageous, i.e. the lingerie dresses, which Oprah so clearly noted. Also, the fact that the pair emphasized the affordabilty of the line was bogus, also cleverly noted by Oprah. And Ms. Tina Knowles’ transparent annoyance with Oprah’s remark clearly dictated that the clothes are NOT reasonably priced for everyone. Possibly the price for the clothes are reasonable to Beyonce and her mom since they pay thousands of dollars for their gowns. However, something we not so rich people should note, this is one way the rich stay rich! They invest. The best thing to do is buy items that do fit your pockets and I am an avid coupon/sale shopper. You can find Donna Karen, J-Lo, David Bitton, etc. for half of the price and I am sure that once the HOD line is up and running, they will be added to the sales rack. It may be a while, but a true, fashion sense shopper knows how to wait for a bargain. Happy shopping.

I absolutely lovvvvveeee BEYONCE’ and I think of her as my big sister. I relate to her in so many ways especially with fashion. I have always admired her, as well as her style, which was created by her lovely mother Mrs. Tina Knowles. I wish the team (Mrs. Knowles and Beyonce’) much success and send my blessings. Although I missed the Oprah Winfrey episode with the two on there, I heard that the clothing line will launch this month and I will definetly be one of the first to wear an outfit byHouse of Dereon. I used to always say, “I wish she had her own clothing line!” I will definitely purchase your clothing. I’m so excited! I’m short and petite with big boobs, so I’m hoping there will be something to compliment my figure. Keep me posted on where to purchase these fashions, possible sales, and new products. I am a fan of Beyone’s style…SOMETIMES! She doesn’t look fantastic all the time and while her clothing line is a great business opportunity for herself and her mother, there is no need for the prices to be as high as they are. Clearly the Knowles’ are not trying to sell the Black community, which happens to be her widest fan base. Ms. Knowles is all about crossover success and that’s where her mind’s at.

I just saw your article in the Ebony Magazine, and you and your mom are just beautiful. I think that it’s such a good idea that you want to bring a since of class back to black women in America. I applaud what you are doing and I will purchase clothing from your line because it’s a true reflection of me. So many young women in America think that being beautiful means being naked, I believe that there is a time and place for everything, and going to school and work, are definitely not the place for being dressed in club attire. I’m glad there are finly jeans that can fit girls with booty and hips. I think they are a little pricy but Its worth having pants that fit you right in the back end.

I think Beyonce and her mom are opportunists. They are trying to capitalize on Beyonce’s music success. When Solange, her sister, didn’t make good with her album, it appeared as if they through her to the curb. As well as the other Destiny’s Child members. I don’t like it. I don’t support her. I never have. Don’t let the beautiful face fool ya….she is out for HERSELF.. and herself only. After all of the money that she has made.. why can she not give her groupmates a chance? Greed, would be the answer to that. She can AFFORD to make her line affordable, she’s not broke.
