Tyra says her goodbyes

Tyra Banks has said an emotional goodbye to the modelling industry and is steadily seeking to build the media empire she’s been dreaming about for a very long time.

The ex-model has also been trying very hard to show everyone how “human” she is. From pointing out her that her hair and eyelashes are fake, to showing on air the girdle she wears and confessing to cellulite. She has been relentless in telling us about her insecurities, which if you’re curious are detailed in her book Tyra’s Beauty Inside & Out. In the book Tyra covers a number of the criticisms she received in her earlier days of modelling, such as her large forehead and weight.

(“they called it a fivehead”) and her voluptuousness. Translation: “I was too fat.”

As much as Tyra wants a career in media it seems they don’t want her and the talkshow host has been branded self absorbed and accused of using her show (“The Tyra Banks Show.”) to deal with her issues, e.g: her feud with Naomi, and how real her breasts are.

All the same, Tyra was a great model, and will be missed…..

Kate Moss has bagged herself another job, and will be the new face of luxury French label Longchamp’s spring/summer 2006 and autumn/winter 2006-7 ad campaigns. The shoot took place in New York last week and managing director of Longchamp Jean Cassegrain announced the decision and said of Kate:

“Despite her personal issues which have been extensively covered in the press, Kate remains by far the most famous and the most admired model in the world.

“She continues to be on the cover of the most respected fashion magazines and she has become an icon of our time.”

House of Dereon launches to a mixed reaction

So Beyonce’s new line is causing quite a stir, some think its way too expensive while others can’t get enough. Either way, many are talking about the debut of the House of Dereon.

Beyonce has released a statement saying,

” the aim is to fuse celebrity power and design artistry into a brand of global importance.”

Intending to offer affordable couture, furs, ready-to-wear, denim and casual sportswear, the line is named after her seamstress grandma and according to the bootylicious babe its theme is,

taking nothing and turning it into something because that’s what my grandmother did with all kinds of fabrics. She just turned everything into masterpieces, and that’s what my mother does.”

Could Beyonce be a bit deranged? Tina’s creations are far from masterpieces, more like god awful! Destiny Child’s style has drastically changed since they were released from wearing the nightmare that was Tina Knowles designs.

And they emerged more stylish and glam then ever….

It’s very likely her grandma did create something out of nothing but today, Miss and Mrs Knowles are far from doing they same. With a great deal of start up capital enabling them to invest in better fabrics than most, this really cant be what Beyonce’s referring to as nothing.

It’s bad enough she’s joined the whole celebrity cum fashion designer posse who are determined to take over the industry, but trying to justify it, with a lame grandma theme really doesn’t sound too good.

The collection isn’t as bad as Tina’s earlier work, but the House of Dereon hasn’t really made or added any creative differences to the industry. Nevertheless sales of the label probably won’t reflect this, and everyone will most likely run out to buy pieces because Miss Knowles supposedly designed it. Jeans are currently available for purchase on the site and are selling for approx. $100 each.

Rumours of Kate Moss possibly turning her hand to acting have resurfaced again. After her time in rehab, she’s now constantly referred to as SHAMED model, but regardless is more in demand than ever.

Nevertheless the style icon currently working in Barcelona is fully aware that her modelling days are numbered and could be giving it all up to enter the film industry.

Vanity Fair who feature Kate on their cover this month have published a press release summarising what she felt after the pictures of her alledged drug binge hit the press and what her friends think about the whole scandal.

Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell have managed to reconcile their differences on air (in an empty studio) for The Tyra Banks show.
Unable to end the feud with an audience, Tyra told Naomi 50% of the reason she retired was because

I was tired of having to deal with you. I was tired of constantly hearing that I got cancelled from this job or that, or hearing that this photographer was called, or that magazine was called and (told) not to use me.”
