Aging Honestly

by Michele Obi on July 31, 2006

The over 30 “supers” talk to Style.com about what it means to be an older model today. A refreshingly honest article…..

Linda Evangelista is on the phone. “It’s really important for me to be honest,” she says. “I don’t look like I do in the pages of Vogue. I think it’s OK to say I’m 41 and it’s work being me. It’s a lot of upkeep!” She means it, and she’s ready to go into detail. “I’m pro-cosmetic procedure. I use Botox, and I’m not afraid to say it, though I do like to keep some movement in my face. I see David Orentreich in New York and Karyn Grossman in Los Angeles. And I do Thermage, a treatment to stimulate your collagen. I admit to that. For me, it’s just for enhancement, like hair color or makeup or any other tricks you can do to make yourself feel better.”

Scarlett Hearts Rbk

by Michele Obi on July 27, 2006

Scarlett Johannson for Reebok
Face of L’oreal, Scarlett Johansson has signed a multimillion dollar deal to be the face of her new range with sports clothing company Reebok. Bit of an odd partnership as Johansson is known more for being glam rather than athletic, but no doubt it will be successful one. The retro range will be called Scarlett Hearts Rbk and is scheduled to be on sale in Spring 2007….

According to Reebok,

“Scarlett embodies the pulse points of our brand — individuality, authenticity and a life lived to the fullest in perpetual motion. These characteristics make her the perfect fit for our new women’s footwear and apparel collection and also for our exciting new women’s campaign.”

Simply, Reebok hopes the deal will attract more female customers….and they believe Scarlett is the right person for the job…..

Success of Devil wears Prada

by Michele Obi on July 5, 2006

Quite surprised at the success of “The Devil wears Prada”. According to reviews Meryl Streep gives a very impressive performance as Miranda Priestly, the boss from hell who’s said to bear a resemblance to US Vogue editor Anna Wintour. So much so that some designers were unwilling to lend their designs to the movie, for fear of getting on the wrong side of Ms Wintour.

“The Devil Wears Prada” is the first film to take a 21st-century view of fashion, moving beyond the myth of its practitioners as visionaries, revealing them instead as the exacting functionaries they are: those who live and dress and think according to the seasonal edicts of global conglomerates.” - ny times.com
