Cream of the crop

[by Michele Obi | 28 February 2007 | No Comment]

These days I find analysing red carpet dresses pretty tedious, everyone plays it so safe and when one star does attempt to be slightly fashion forward and take a risk they get criticised a hundred times over. Example? Jennifer Hudson in Oscar de la Renta. I just don’t agree with the masses on this one, her jacket was cute and complimented her figure. No doubt Andre Leon Talley, the man supposedly responsible for the apparent disaster that was her outfit won’t be asked to lend his efforts anytime soon, even if he is Anna Wintour’s right hand man.

Really and truly there were only two starlets who really shone in my eyes and unfortunately it wasn’t Jessica Biel - I just don’t understand this dress, admittedly she has such a great figure that she could make a bin liner sexy - but this didn’t do it for me nor did Jennifer Lopez’ choice although I did like her Marchesa gown ….nope…..the award for best dressed should have gone to Reese Witherspoon in Nina Ricci and Gywneth Paltrow in Zac Posen. Both looked effortlessly sexy and ultra chic.
