Fashion Blogging

Posted by Michele Obi on Friday, 23 March 20073 Comments

Fashion blogging has come a long way in the past four years since I started My Fashion Life and I love it. I try to read as many blogs as time will allow and can’t get enough, from the honest to the creative, however I hardly ever visit the blogs published by the bigwigs e.g: Vogue, Telegraph etc… simply because I find the posts to be dull and when they are of any interest -possibly because of a busy schedule - they hardly update.

But I have to give credit - whilst it could be premature -where it’s due….Carol Han’s blog for Elle entitled The Market Girl is not bad at all. No I havent been paid for this endorsement, I know its difficult to tell with blogs these days but my praise is for real. Market girl began this month and its got me checking back daily….

Michele Obi is the publisher and founder of My Fashion Life. In between editing, freelancing and spending most of her time on the internet, she also finds time to shop (too much) and obsess over shoes. She loves sushi and counts Matthew Williamson, John Galliano, Valentino and Hussein Chalayan as her favourite designers. Her biggest regret - never seeing Prince in concert!

I just started fashion blogging and I totally agree with you. The blogs at Vogue and the other bigwigs just aren’t as good as real fashion blogs by real people! They’re okay for finding out about the latest news, but other than that, they’re boring. Thanks for writing a blog that isn’t!

I really like The Market Girl also! It’s such an interesting peek inside a fashion editor’s life, and I love how personal she makes it. It seems like it’s written by a real person, not a robot (cough *Vogue* cough).

Hi, just found your site - I like it alot. great info

agree some of the bigger names can be a little overwhelming. I like the smaller venues like Fashion Indie, The Budget Fashionista etc.

    have fun
