It’s nearly impossible to find something that lives up to all of our high expectations, but Rome, almost magically, never fails. Whether it’s exploring the medieval neighborhood of Trastevere, scouring one-of-a-kind Italian shops, or sipping prosecco over dinner near Piazza Navona, the entire city abounds with things to do and see. It’s no wonder, then, that it is easy to be overwhelmed by all the city has to offer. In this months InStyle, founder of luxury catalogue Vivre, Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti takes readers around the city to all her favorite shops, mercatos, and other uniquely Roman treasures. Check out the feature in the pictures below…..makes me wish I was back there!

A Jacobin Rebellion of a Rather Different Sort

Marc Jacobs has certainly not had a love affair with Paris. While living in the city as the creative director of Louis Vuitton, Jacobs struggled with everything from the foreign language to the lack of takeout food. But could recent events have him redesigning his previously shaky relationship with the city of lights?
Jacobs is notorious for his punctuality, in fact, his Fall 2005 , Fall 2006 and Spring 2006 shows all began well behind schedule. But when his Spring 2008 presentation was two hours late, a public outcry erupted from editors and guests who felt that this time his tardiness was unforgivable. Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune was especially venomous, suggesting in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily a startling desire to murder the designer. Marc’s response? Claiming to be fed up with New York, the designer is threatening to move his show to Paris next year.

Milan Fashion Week: Prada

Anytime soon, Miuccia Prada will be known as fashion’s mad hatter.….but do we care? No, we love her and her wacky approach which some how always works. Pulling looks from the sixties/seventies art scene, the collection from Prada is the stuff of fairytales….whimsical and dreamy.
Fabrics are soft and floaty, print dresses are paired with loud tights and attention grabbing platforms and colours are used solely for the purpose of clashing. Love it!

Milan Fashion Week: Moschino

The catwalks in Milan consistently ooze sexiness every fashion week and the Spring 2008 collection from Moschino stayed true to form while retaining an element of mystery. Hemlines were short and plunging necklines were non-existent, dresses were shapeless and loose fits were the order of the day. The collection is filled with varied pieces from trapeze shaped dresses to jumpsuits, shorts and clear plastic anoraks which in my opinion weren’t such a good idea.

Milan Fashion Week: Gianfranco Ferré

Naturally many were looking forward to Ferré’s contribution to womenswear for Spring/Summer 2008 as it marked the final collection the designer worked on before he sadly passed away in June. The collection was completed by his design team and compromised structured figure flattering, easy-to-wear pieces that depicted Ferré’s unique and timeless perspective of fashion.
Models stormed the mirrored catwalk wearing thick-soled shoes that matched the soft earth toned pieces presented and light, loose materials such as silk and cotton featured heavily along with one of autumn’s biggest trends, high waisted, wide legged trousers. It’s been debatable as to who would take over at Gianfranco Ferre however the announcement was finally made after the show and ex Bill Blass designer Lars Nilsson has been appointed the man for the job.
