by Michele Obi on January 31, 2008

Who better to run to for fashion advice than Constance White? With over 15 years in the business White is unarguably an expert in her field. Currently working as Style Director for eBay, her previous posts have included stints at The New York Times, Elle, and WWD. White has also shared her fabulous knowledge on shows such as Project Runway, E! Fashion File and Oprah and her work has appeared in publications such as British Vogue. For those who are always in need of a fashion fix, check out her blog Fashion is my life for great insider tips!

So fashion week is just days away…any shows you’re looking forward to in particular?

It really is just days away. I’m feeling the pressure of a packed schedule. Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to Narciso Rodriguez, Proenza Schouler, Phillip Lim, Peter Som for Bill Blass, it’s his first collection for the storied house and he’s so talented. I’m curious to see what Francisco Costa will do at Calvin Klein this time and what Patrick Robinson has done for GAP. Marc Jacobs is a given because he’s always innovative.

Fashion Week: What on earth do I wear?

by Lindsay North on January 31, 2008

Okay, so the words “Fashion Week” are on all of our tongues and in every fashion-related publication. Normally being assaulted with the phrase this much drives me crazy, and in the past, it has. This year, however, the words are sweet music to my ears because for the first time ever, I will be one of the lucky ladies looking at the runway in person.

Last year, I saw Agyness Deyn buying coffee at some ungodly early hour, presumably on her way to be made up, coiffed and dressed for her bookings that day. This year, I will see models galore. But when faced with the biggest faces and names in fashion … what on earth do I wear?

Think Red: Jersey Pintucked dress by Vivienne Tam

by Angie Omata on January 31, 2008

vivienne_tam_bluefly.jpgWith Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we’ve already started thinking about the royal treatment we’re hoping to get from our special somebody. Long-stem roses…a box of decadent chocolates… perhaps even that necklace we’ve strategically been dropping hints about since Christmas… And if you’re like us, you’ve also started thinking about what to wear.

With the drone of winter carrying on seemingly to no end, the last thing we feel like doing is throwing on our LBD and blending into the gloomy landscape. Even though wearing red on Valentine’s Day seems a little trite, in the right fabric and silhouette, there’s almost nothing more stunning.

Pre-Fall 2008: A taste of what’s to come

by Lindsay North on January 31, 2008

The pre-fall shows are almost unfair – they hint at what our favourite fashion names are going to offer, but make us wait until Fashion Week arrives several weeks later to provide us with a complete and satisfying picture. That said, the pre-fall collections get me through many a dreary January day.

The bright colours at Chloé piqued my interest (especially after the pretty but blah-after-awhile palette that had a stranglehold on the spring 2008 shows), as did the loose but still clean cut of most of the garments.

Stop, you’re killing us.

by Michele Obi on January 30, 2008

Question. Does Antonio Berardi really expect us ladies to parade around in these platforms this Spring? We thought the heels at Marc Jacobs would cause havoc on our poor feet but surely they can’t be as bad as these babies…
