Charlie Mindu: A Cut Above The Rest

A trendy haircut often cements your fashion status, so where better to look than to Charlie Le Mindu, hairdresser extraordinaire. Having recently relocated to UK shores from Berlin and taken residence in a deserted warehouse in the London’s east end, Charlie is to hairdressing what Gaultier is to fashion.

I met him at the über trendy Tatty Devine Customer Club launch party a few weeks ago where he had set up shop and was cutting hair for free. I waited and waited but the queue was so long I eventually had to leave to catch the last tube home. I was told to meet him at his next pop-up salon event, but at a charge of £150 an hour, I thought it best to just leave my hair long. This is the world of Charlie, possibly the edgiest, trendiest hairdresser out there.

Hailing from Berlin, the capital of the concept haircut, he created the pop-up salon, simply cutting hair in trendy nightclubs rather than the traditional hair salon. Discovered at the age of thirteen, and studying at Vidal Sassoon and Toni & Guy, the twenty-one year old now cuts the hair of Peaches (not Geldof), LCD Soundsystem, and Chicks on Speed.

He is young, tiny, and has a haircut that would probably scare even the most brave of customers, but his fashionable presence is very on ,trend (he wears only the coolest, up-and-coming designers) and he exudes confidence.

The question is, how do you find him? Unfortunately you just have to be in the right place at the right time. Check out www.charlielemindu.com to find out more.

About us

Welcome to My Fashion Life!

Launched in 2003 My Fashion Life is one of the UK’s leading top fashion blogs. Recognised for combining all the quality content you’d expect to find in an online magazine with the honest opinion and tone of a blog.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
