I’m sure you’ve seen the African prints on the runways for SS’08, you only have to look to Christopher Kane and Donna Karen to see where the look of the season is going, and now H&M have launched a new ethnic-inspired collection to make it just a little easier for us.
The line is called A Tribute to Marimekko and can be seen in most H&M window displays at the moment. It’s a tribute to Finnish design company Marimekko’s graphic prints of the 1960s and 70s with an African twist.
The women’s collection of 70 pieces consists of long, flowing dresses with bold graphics in colours such as white, black, orange, olive, fuschia, and turquoise – all complimentary to one another (you can match skirts and tops to dresses and shorts). The collection doesn’t just comprise of daywear, it also includes swimwear too.
The Marimekko H&M design can also be seen in both men’s and children’s wear, although the number of pieces available is quite limited. So, you might want to check it out quite soon before it all sells out!
Visit www.hm.com to view the collection online.
