Lust of the week: Topshop Floral Print Corset

I try and I try and I try to be good and save my pennies but Topshop is a bad place. A bad, bad place that wants to see me fail. For, why else would it throw such a physical incarnation of temptation into my otherwise thrifty gaze? Alas, Topshop knows that I am weak and defenceless and so there is nothing left but to succumb…
Falling from grace is worth it when you have a top that is not only a homage to Balenciaga S/S08, but looks an awful lot like Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony. And really, £35 is not a steep price to pay for an item that manages to play with florals, structure and body-con as well as being the perfect way to channel the sun-drenched and slightly tacky small town American vibe I have been lusting after.
It was made to be worn with my super pale ankle-grazing jeans and gold charms; a combination which was made for the fictional road trip I am undertaking in my head. And, of course, when I stop of at my fictional festival it will make perfect dancing fodder with my denim cut-offs and twirling skirts. Time, I think, to stop frantically justifying my new purchase and begin a summer clad in corseted florals….
