Every so often a trend appears that I have a great longing to wear but question my ability to wear it: the skull print made famous by Alexander McQueen, vintage style t-shirts, the superhero look pioneered by Luella. All these trends demand a certain level of coolness.
I can’t explain what I mean by cool but I know it when I see it, certain people just stand out as being “cool. I spend most of my days swanning around in dresses and full skirts and whilst I dress in my own style that is still trend led, I am certainly not cool.
But now, once more my coolness is being tested in the form of the industrial boot, that style made famous by Dr Martens, has been commandeered by the high street and turned it into a thing of beauty. Kurt Geiger, Topshop, French Connection, All Saints, all of them have their very own take on the workman’s boot. I have personally fallen in love with the All Saints version, which comes in chocolate, black or a dirty white.
I long to wear them, and whilst I don’t believe in denying myself anything, I just can’t imagine myself in these boots, what would I wear them with? Daisy Lowe strolls around in a pair with a tea dress as though it were the easiest thing in the world.
I do think if you’re going to wear them then it has to be with a pretty girly dress or with a pair of super skinny jeans. It’s just getting that innate cool edginess, if only someone could bottle it and then I could buy it and be a genuine cool girl.

I saw a girl on the train wearing those exact All Saints boots, they are gorgeous, very tempted to buy them but at £150 i have the same issue as yourself, whether i’m confident enough to wear them, can’t see myself in them. I think its just one of those things you have to get used to, i’m gonna see if i can find a cheaper replica, don’t want to waste them.
I had pondered over these boots for some time as well! I saw girls and guys wearing them (or a similar style) and longed to be able to wear them!
So when I got some birthday money, I bit the bullet and went for it! Was it a good decision to buy these a few months before our summer? Most definately!
I’m not overly tall (about 5.5/5.6) so was really worried about them, but I live in my skinny jeans and they go with everything for that uber cool look!
My advice…..if you want something and you can’t stop thinking about wanting that something then just do it! You’ll regret it in the long run!
I agree with rebecca totally i regularly go to manchester town centre shopping and everyone has them in all different kinds of styles and ppl where them in all different ways,
!
i wanted these boots for so long and decided what the hell and went for them i got my from all-saints in the trafford centre and they are the best purchase i have spent in a long time yes their pricy but they go with everything when i say that i mean i haven’t found anything they dont just go with they have such a cwl about them and have that vintage modern feel whilst being comfy as-well they are extremely durable and for a boot give extreme movement so it doesn’t take a hrs trying to walk right it is like no change form your regular footwear,
to all those ppl who dont think they will look good in these trust me u will look trendyyyyyyyyy
also i would say though in my opinion i have noticed they look best on smaller ppl and go well best with skinnyish baggy jeans hope this helped
I fell in love with these boots on a trip to the trafford center with my friend. strangely enough they don’t look chunky or big on, they complimented the shape of my legs and im not bothered about wearing them with shorts or skirts and showing off some leg. Last week my dad took me back to get them in the charcoal and I can safely say it’s money well spent!
I bought these just last week, im trying to find a good way to lace em up. I’ve experimented with a few different ways.
anyone got any tips?
