Shopping: Thomas Burberry for Soletrader

We’ve fallen head over heels for Thomas Burberry’s small but perfectly formed collaboration with Sole Trader. Available in stores from September these slick reinterpretations of the riding boot complement perfectly the celebration of everything that puts the ‘Brit’ in ‘British’ that was prevalent throughout many of the autumn/winter 08 collections.
Though the collaboration has brought about only two styles it still offers a lot to the fashion conscious winter boot lover. Both offer a solid, manageable chic heel.
Part one of the collaboration are the knee high, rich brown ( pictured above) boots with delicate gold detailing and zip.
Part two are the neat but statement quilted ankle boots in black.

With fashion functionality and wearability, not to mention the delicious price tags at £90 and £100 respectively, these boots are a must for anyone searching for a seasonal boot with versatility that won’t break the bank.
‘Beautiful affordable boots, can it be true?’ I hear you cry, and yes it really is true. And not only are they affordable but they will fit neatly into your autumn winter ’08 wardrobe. From Dolce and Gabbana to Carolina Herrera, many designers explored the ideas of heritage and country-estate chic perhaps unduly banished into sartorial obscurity.
I’d be all for styling them with the kind of wool tailoring, head scarf and tartan soaked aesthetic evident in the vision of such designers this season. The ankle boot might also complement the effortlessly smooth, rich-hippy look perfectly created by Frida Giannina for Gucci this season, twinned with a paisley print dress and fur bolero jacket.
Both would look fabulous with rich coloured tights and a chunky knit jumper dress or simply slim fit trouser.

If she was forced to wear one designer's clothes for life (oh what a chore that would be!) it would either be Christopher Bailey for Burberry or Stella McCartney.
