Justin Timberlake and Beyonce

“You can’t make music without fashion or fashion without music,” – Designer Max Azria

And so fashion and music collided when the fifth annual Fashion Rocks and NY Fashion Week both kicked off on Friday.

More on fashion week later but first we have to talk about the outfits that graced the red carpet at Radio City Hall to celebrate the love affair between music and fashion. See after the jump for our favourites…

Rihanna

Rihanna put on a public show in a beautiful black strapless gown by Monique Lhuiller.

Leighton Meester

Leighton Meester looked fresh and cute in a floor length Missoni number from the Resort 09 collection.

Beyonce

For once Beyoncé opted for less glam and more fashion forward in an understated Costume National creation. Reports confirm that she accessorised with a gorgeous diamond ring (on her wedding finger may we add) hmm….

Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank wore Givenchy couture….(gorgeous colour right?)

Taylor Momsen and Fergie

Taylor Momsen opted for a stunning mini dress by BCBG Max Azria and Fergie - well to be honest we’re a bit confused by Fergie’s Gucci boho chic outfit…

Charlize Theron

And our personal favourite Charlize Theron did glam goth beautifully in leather skin tight trousers and a sparkly silver blazer by Rag and Bone…

She loves sushi and counts Matthew Williamson, John Galliano, Valentino and Hussein Chalayan as her favourite designers. Her biggest regret - never seeing Prince in concert!
