Skinny Jeans Get a Makeover

It is with much regret that I feel I should be waving goodbye to the skinny jean this autumn. Admittedly, I could not wait to purchase my dark-wash kick-flares this week and revel in the 70s heritage look that saturated the A/W o8 catwalks, but there is something inside me hankering after some tight-fitting, pipe-legged denim. However I needn’t worry, because the ever reliable favourite appears to have just had a makeover.

And quite a big one at that. Splashed with pastel animal prints and bright, daring check, this season’s skinny is certainly not your traditional ‘go with everything’ jean.

Since the ever stylish Fearne Cotton was photographed in her pair of Urban Outfitters, leopard print skinnys, the high street has been going crazy with their own versions. Jean City has taken a leaf out of Topshop’s trend book and adopted the tartan feel with this Bay City Roller-esque denim.

A leopard might never change its spots, but the ever-changing world of fashion means we most certainly can. Not quite brave enough to pull off a bright red tartan print; this leopard here might just begin to embrace this trend (like Miss Cotton), at Urban Outfitters
