Beauty Road Test: M.A.C Prep and Prime Skin Refined Zone

What: A new addition to MAC’s Prep + Prime range. This skincare product works with foundations and powders to smooth the appearance of makeup, enable the ease of makeup application and more significantly, reduce the size of pores. Skin Refined Zone contains microspheres which immediately give a matte look to the skin by absorbing oil and diffusing light. What’s more, over the course of 4-6 weeks, pores are said to shrink to two-thirds of their original size!

In a tiny 15ml tube, it is immediately clear that Skin Refined Zone need not be applied liberally. A tiny amount is all that is needed per application - particularly if like me, you are intending to just use the product on your T-zone, to really test whether it can tackle those pores!

The results:  Wow. I don’t normally hold much expectation for products that claim to do such wondrous things as minimising pores (particularly at this small price), but after just a couple of days using Skin Refined Zone I could see the difference. I have found myself needing to use less base than I normally might, as the primer has been formulated to work well with foundations and powders, and the fact that my pores really HAVE shrunk in a matter of days, has meant that I have found myself needing less powder throughout the day to cover that oily T-zone.

Verdict: Top marks to MAC for this one. A brilliant addition to your everyday makeup regime! Get your tube of Skin Refined Zone for just £12.72 at maccosmetics.co.uk and $19.50 available at maccosmetics.com.
