Lily Allen is the new face of Chanel

When I read the title ‘A Lily for Karl Lagerfeld’ on WWD my first thought was Lily Cole. For Lily Cole seems a more likely choice for the legendary brand, but no I was mistaken songstress Lily Allen is the new face of the handbag campaign.

Lily is following in the footsteps of Jerry Hall, Diane Kruger and Milla Jovovich. Karl Lagerfeld remarked ‘she’s fun’ and the shoot is due to take place this week.

It’s a surprising choice, although her recent style overhaul has been phenomenal. Gone are the chav earrings and now she is all about Chanel handbags and dresses. Her new found style is gorgeous and she does have a great look, this campaign could really be the making of her.

    Lily Allen has trimmed down. She looks better, and she’s even played down her tabloid image. Why wouldn’t she be a good choice? yes…. absolutely!

    I think it’s ridiculous. Chanel was about creating trailblazing, refined fashion with immense attention to art and detail; today, it’s a symbol of old money. Regardless, Allen fits neither of these images. She’s a young woman who most often posed in ill-fitting outfits that had nothing to do with fashion. I don’t hold that against her; her personality isn’t expressed through clothing. But Chanel + Allen= the world gone crazy.

    It’s ridiculous to think that Chanel doesn’t use tricks to sell their products. Airbrushed/photo shopped pictures from certain angles hand picked by the designer. Their not going to show you the pictures that didn’t turn out, even if it was Heidi Klum. Sure Lily Allen can dress down, but her clothes are not ill fitting. You’ve bought into what you think people should look like because fashion designers told you too. Most likely to build your own self- esteem, that’s their goal. After so many (too many) photographs of Lily Allen it’s easy to see that she can be elegant ( 2007 Harrods sale) Sexy (G.Q.) cover and approachable (everyday wear) it’s the real angle not the one you used too. It’s just not good that you feel that way about yourself.

    I can’t agree with the you more that Chanel seems to use tricks selling products. But I think it not a good tactic for the vintage brand.
    Lily Allen is huge fan of Chanel handbags.Is this the reason to pick her? That’s strange.

    I think Karl Lagerfeld knows what works, and Lily Allen knows how to work with the look that she has. So yeah, it’s a good choice. A huge fan of Chanel? lets just say that Lily Allen ripped up the bathroom in her bedroom, to turn it into a closet, so that she could keep the clothes handbags and accessories that Chanel gave to her. They have a good friendship. He gets free advertising she gets some but not all of the clothes for free. win + win situation.
