Karl Lagerfeld puts on his dancing shoes

Talking about this collaboration and The Dying Swan costume Lagerfeld said:

“As a child, I was impressed by old images of Pavlova dancing that ballet.

The cast are obviously excited about their haute couture costumes, Elena Glurdjidze the senior principal dancer exclaimed:

“I have seen his drawing of the tutu-it looks so light, almost alive. We always say that the look is 50 per cent of how you are going to dance, so it is very important to have a beautiful costume.”

The dance troupe Ballet Russes was formed in 1909 in Paris and had costumes designed by Coco herself and Picasso.

The performance will take place at Sadler’s Wells on 16th , 20th June. To see more checkout the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK which hit shelves 4th May.
