Here in my agency, working with emerging brands of all shapes, sizes and stripes, I think the grassroots approach is much more effective. And fun, too. For instance: http://twitter.com/ms_elli — Ellington Leather’s new Twitter page — doesn’t have as many “followers” as LVUS. But they are actually tweeting back and forth with followers, and making a point to follow people back and seek out those who have interesting things to say.

It’s a new medium, sure, this Twitter thing. We’ll have to see if the big boys are up to the challenge of actually talking to customers.
