Vera Wang is to appear on ‘Dancing With the Stars’.
The US fashion designer in said to be in talks to appear in the next series of the US TV talent show, which is set to premiere on the ABC network on September 21.
E! News reports: ‘A source tells us that designer Vera Wang has signed on to compete for next season’s disco ball trophy.’
ABC is yet to release any information on the celebrities who will be appearing in the hit show, while Vera’s representative has not commented on the claims.
Vera – who turns 60 on June 27 – is a trained ice skater who competed in the 1968 US Figure Skating Championships.
She worked as US fashion magazine Vogue’s senior fashion editor for 16 years, but left in 1985 after she was not awarded the editor-in-chief position.
Vera then worked at Ralph Lauren as a design director for two years, before leaving to start her own label.
She is most famous for her wedding gowns – which have been worn by a host of celebrities, including Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham – but has also designed outfits for figure skaters including 1994 Olympics silver medallist Nancy Kerrigan. Dancing designer Vera Wang

I think that Vera Wang is so talented. With the rumor about her going on the show dancing with the stars up in the air who knows. She is great at everything she puts her mind to and Im sure she would go far on the show. I was so suprised to hear that Vera Wang is turning 60 years old this year. I think she will do great in the competition because she has had some type of training as an ice skater so im sure she will get the hang of the coreography. To my knowledge I dont think Dancing With the Stars has ever had a famous fashion designer as a competitor. Maybe this will set the trend to get more well known designers to entertain. To me, well known fashion designers are celebrities and they should embrace it more. I love all of Vera Wang’s creations and I cant help myself in indulging in her more affordable designs from khols department store. Her jewelry and accessory lines are beautiful and are a perfect touch to each of the outfits she has designed. I will admit though, I have never shopped at Khols or even was tempted untill I heard Vera started a more affordable line. I think that more high profile designers should be open to more opportunities like this so a variety of set incomes can afford any kind of designer duds. Even though some people cant afford most of the higher designers that doesnt mean you cant make a more affordable label suited just for their needs
