Lunchtime buy: Matt & Nat Varela messenger bag

22nd April 2010 12:58 pm

To celebrate Earth Day 2010, today’s Lunchtime buy is this faux leather messenger from Inder Bedi’s eco-friendly handbag line, Matt & Nat.

Brought to life when Bedi was challenged by a Greek Hare Krishna priest to go vegetarian for 30 days at the age of eighteen, Matt & Nat is a vegan range of stylish handbags, shoes and accessories that aims to push the boundaries of eco-fashion.

Style and substance take on equal roles as this gorgeous, unique bag suggests. Detailed with outer zips and pyramid studs, Bedi has tapped into the laid-back, rock chick trend for his latest collectiion, with focus placed on antiqued brass hardware. But he continues to ensure that practicality and the all-important, eco-friendly message are at the forefront of his designs: The Varela messenger bag features spacious inner pockets, a detachable strap and an interior lining made from 21 recycled plastic bottles.

$215 from Shopbop.
