Amidst the staple strapless styles, a new cut proved a sartorial hit on last night’s red carpet – the cap sleeve.

Proving a popular shape with Michelle Williams, Amy Adams, Melissa Leo and Annette Bening, the short, shoulder-scraping sleeve brought an understated elegance and contemporary edge to tried and tested Oscars style.
