Jason Wu gives some wise advice to Kate Middleton’s wedding dress designer

23rd March 2011 10:32 am

It seems we’re constantly inundated with rumours as to who Kate Middleton’s wedding dress designer may or may not be, but American fashion designer Jason Wu has veered off the gossiping track and decided to offer the royal designer some wise words of wisdom instead– whoever they may be.

Wu recently showed his latest autumn/winter 11 collection at New York Fashion Week and has remained a constant respected figure on the fashion scene for some time now– so naturally, his words of advice shouldn’t be taken lightly.

“Embrace the moment of attention, but be prepared to make your next step,” says Jason. “Your career is not just about one experience, one hit show. You have to figure out what your next acts are going to be.”

But Jason also warns the potential designer not to let the fame and fortune that comes with such a coveted opportunity get the better of them.

“You become a global brand overnight,” he says. “People outside of fashion know your name, and they get excited about fashion. I could have been a reality star, a TV personality, a spokesperson for this or that. There were book and movie proposals. They wanted to make me into a ‘personality.’ It’s so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind,” reports Vogue UK.

We couldn’t agree with you more Jason.
