Vivienne Westwood opens her first US store

1st April 2011 9:14 am

Dame Vivienne Westwood has now officially opened her first stateside store as the Los Angeles launch party got well and truly under way Wednesday night.

With a star studded guest list including Dita Von Teese, Christina Hendricks and Marilyn Manson (we wonder if Teese and Manson rekindled their former romance?) it looked as though the British designer had plenty of overseas support by her side on the night.

Since collaborating with Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks on her latest ‘Get a Life’ Palladium jewellery collection, Vivienne certainly made the right choice asking this Hollywood flavour of the moment to model her latest accessory installment – which no doubt went down a treat in the US.

“She is my favourite designer,” said Hendricks. “As a young girl I would cut out pictures of her dresses from magazines, although I was never able to afford them. Even now I only have one in my closet.”

Westwood chose to set up her new store in the quirky designer area of West Hollywood, as New York’s upper street chic aesthetic would prove too conservative for her creative flare, reports The Telegraph.

We wish you all the luck in the world Viv – not that you need it of course!
