eBay bids for Princess Beatrice’s royal wedding hat have reached £17,800

17th May 2011 10:00 am

After we reported you the news last week that Princess Beatrice’s royal wedding hat will be auctioned on eBay, we decided to check on its progress today – and we came across some pretty astounding results.

With 61 bidders currently competing to win the outrageous Philip Treacy hat, the highest bid has already reached £17,800 this morning! Yes, seriously.

We really have to wonder what on earth that person will do with such a monstrosity iconic piece of royal wedding memorabilia, and more importantly, who that person is.

Alas, all the money made from this auction will be donated to the children’s charity Unicef, so with only five days left, let’s hope the total can exceed £20,000.

Keep up the good work eBay bidders.
