Love or Hate: Tom Ford tortoiseshell Nikita sunglasses

17th May 2011 1:30 am

Tom Ford is pretty much a one-man wonder. It’s a rarity in fashion when whatever a designer touches turns to gold, but in his case, it most definitely does.

From his work at Gucci to his own label, Mr Ford’s creations exude class. I’vee always been a Ford fan and wear his perfume, White Patchouli, every day, but I have been yearning after a pair of his sunglasses for a while now and I think I may have found them.

These Nikita shades in tortoiseshell have been worn by Rihanna and Scarlett Johansson lately, and I can see why the celebs love them so much.

The cat eye shape is charmingly retro and makes a change from all the aviators and bug-eyed designs on the market. The honey and brown frame is also super-flattering and gives a nod to the Seventies trend around right now.

These sunglasses work with any daytime look but are made to be worn with chic Fifties and Sixties style attire. Think Mad Men, or take inspiration from Mr Ford’s A Single Man. Best of all, they’re completely timeless and will last you year after year. Love!

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
