Christopher Kane’s new neon clutches were designed to cheer his sister up

27th May 2011 9:47 am

Christopher Kane‘s latest collection of neon stitched clutches were not, apparently, produced for mass consumer consumption, but rather to cheer his sister Tammy up when she was unwell. Bless.

“The bags were never planned,” said Kane. “Tammy was poorly and I wanted to cheer her up so I made her one from remnant neon laser leather from my spring/summer 2011 collection. She loved them so much I got the full colour set made up for her for her Christmas.”

But little did Kane realise the neon clutches he specifically designed for his sister would soon become an instant hit on the fashion scene.

“When she wore the orange neon one to the Vogue Fashion Fund celebratory evening, she got such a warm reaction from guests. Then Net-A-Porter asked us to produce them for them,” Kane continues to explain. “They actually go with almost every outfit, they are so great and always cheer me up.”

The bags are available to buy exclusively from Net-A-Porter here, priced £295, reports Vogue UK.

Family heirlooms, eh?

Ok, I have to admit, I'm probably not the fairest person to judge this item because I really hate snoods....
