Alexander Wang’s diving into swimwear

31st May 2011 11:00 am

Some things just make so much sense it makes you wonder why on earth it’s never been done before – and Alexander Wang launching swimwear is one of those situations.

Not only does the American designer’s school of easy cool translate so well into swimwear, but his spring 2009 collection, if you remember, was especially swim-inspired. Cut-out swim-style bodysuits teamed with denim bikers and ankle boots? Er, we’ll take five.

Wang’s swimwear debut will make its first splash for resort with cut-outs and athletic references, according to WWD, which suit the designer’s luxe sportswear aesthetic down to a tee.

But until then, the boys are getting some action with Wang’s first men’s ready-to-wear collection, set to bow later this month.

Hot guys and super sexy swimwear? We’ve hit heaven already.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
