Lily Allen unveils her debut fashion collection

1st June 2011 10:30 am

After months of sneak peeks and promises, Lily Allen and her sister Sarah Owen’s, eagerly anticipated debut fashion collection has finally been unveiled. Cue dresses galore!

The line is said to be inspired by their vintage shop, Lucy In Disguise, with key pieces that span across all the major fashion decades; from Seventies jumpsuits, Twenties beaded flapper dresses, Thirties tea dresses, Forties embroidered maxis and Fifties full-skirted looks.

“After we’d launched the shop, I think we both felt that we wanted to create vintage styles with more contemporary, clean lines,” said Allen. “Sometimes with vintage clothes the femininity can get lost – the market didn’t feel quite perfect, so that’s what we’ve worked on. I’ve always been into vintage – before I became a pop star it was all I ever wore.”

With items like the Roxy jumpsuit and Jitterbug ruffle dress certainly ones not to miss out on, the sisters’ debut line is bound to be a sure-fire hit on the fashion scene (it’s already been featured in prestigious titles). And by the looks of it, the first of many too come.

“We’re now working on collection four,” Lily told Vogue UK. “This line is all about Lucy In Disguise the character – it’s very eclectic. The next few collections become more concentrated and more based on set themes with clear hero pieces. Each piece really stands on its own.”

As far as celebrity labels go, this might just be up there with the best.
