Uniqlo and Jil Sander collaboration is over

23rd June 2011 2:59 pm

Let’s have an ‘oh man!’ moment: Uniqlo and Jil Sander have announced today that their partnership is over as of next season, when they’ll discontinue the collaboration and cut creative ties.

Jil Sander’s been designing her +J line for Uniqlo for three years with resounding success – including instant sell-outs – so we’re a little surprised to see the pair parting ways.

“With the recent completion of the design of the fall and winter collection, Ms. Sander and Uniqlo agreed that they had fully explored the possibilities of their creative collaboration and accomplished what they had set out to do,” Uniqlo said in a release. “Consequently, the two parties have decided to wrap up their design consulting agreement with this collection.”

This is bad news for several reasons: not only was it one of the better designer collaborations on the high street and a chance to actually get something Jil Sander touched at a reasonable price, it offered some of the best coats around, too.

We know where we’ll be flocking this autumn – grab it while you can!
