Models 1 launch plus-size division

7th July 2011 10:15 am

Renowned modelling agency Models 1 have joined forces with pluz-size company Excel to form a new division for the curvier catwalk model out there – it’s about time!

Excel-Models 1 came about after Models 1 found there was a gap in the market for plus-sized models working in a high fashion environment – so thus the new-found partnership was born.

“It’s an exciting time for us,” said a Models 1 spokesperson. “We’re working on building an amazing stable of curvy girls. We’ll be scouting in the UK, scouting international girls who’ve never worked in the UK – we want to create a really strong offering of plus-sized girls.”

Plus-sized models have been scouring the surface in high-end fashion for some time now, with models such as Hayley Morley and Laura Wells highly regarded by designers Mark Fast and Jean Paul Gaultier over the past few seasons, reports Vogue UK.

And, of course, Crystal Renn became the first plus-sized Vogue cover girl after appearing on Vogue Mexico in April this year – not to mention landing a Chanel campaign.

We’ll just have to wait and see how this partnership blossoms.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
