Roland Mouret is made creative director at Robert Clergerie

11th July 2011 10:41 am

French fashion designer Roland Mouret has been made creative director at French footwear label Robert Clergerie, in an apparent attempt to raise his fashion profile.

And naturally, Roland’s very pleased with the business venture.

“To be the creative director of Robert Clergerie is an incredible opportunity,” said Mouret.

“For so many people it’s such an important brand and held in the highest affection, as is Robert Clergerie himself. This is a chance for me to work with a master on the art and craft of shoe design and to be part of the special relationship that women have with their shoes.”

The footwear label’s founder is also equally pleased with Mouret’s new appointment.

“I’m delighted to see Roland Mouret at the head of the creation of the Maison that I created,” said Robert Clergerie to Vogue UK.

“It is a great symbol to see such perspectives, with a talent who already knows and loves our company.”

We can’t wait to see the footwear fruits of his labour.
