Since David Beckham revealed that author, Harper Lee, was of the main inspirations behind his daughter’s name – Harper Seven Beckham – at the weekend, sales of her novel To Kill A Mockingbird have more than doubled.

The increase in sales has gone up by 123 per cent, resulting in the book now sitting quite nicely at number 38 in the bestsellers charts – and no doubt it’ll rise even further over the coming weeks.

“One reason is Harper’s an old English name which we loved – and one of the other reasons was Victoria’s favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird and the author was Harper Lee,” said Beckham.

“It’s a very strong, passionate book. That’s where Harper came from.”

The book itself was first published in 1960, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel stands as Harper Lee’s one and only piece of published work, reports Vogue UK.

We might just get ourselves a copy, too.
