Melissa George is yellow fabulous

5th August 2011 10:14 pm

Photographed at East Hampton’s Art for Life Benefit earlier this week, Melissa George’s simple yet stunning evening look had us filled with quiet admiration. Not only does Melissa pull off top to toe yellow without looking like Big Bird, but she does so with impeccable grace and retro glamour.

For so many celebrities ‘summer’ is read as a code to bare all, and with July and August red carpets overpopulated with divas in barely there outfits, it’s refreshing to see a star looking seriously sexy yet retain a little mystery.

The Tommy Hilfiger dress’ cleavage-conscious scoop neckline is sizzling, but the widespread thick straps keep it from being trashy by broadening Melissa’s shoulders and giving her an athletic, all-American look that’s both power and sexy.  The top half of the dress, with its figure conscious waist and bust enhancing top is reminiscent of prim 1950’s day dresses, while the dress’ loose, flowing skirting drapes around her like a bridal train, turning up the glamour volume to Grace Kelly levels to pristine, angelic gorgeousness.

Combined with her loose waves and silver drop earrings, (but we’d lose the chunky bangles that spoil the line of the dress) Melissa looks every inch the 1950’s silver screen goddess. No wonder her new beau Russell Simmons is looking so happy these days!

What do you think of Melissa George's outfit?

Launched in 2003 My Fashion Life is one of the UK’s leading top fashion blogs. Recognised for combining all the quality content you’d expect to find in an online magazine with the honest opinion and tone of a blog.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
