Nicola Roberts is becoming progressively more experimental with her sartorial choices by the season, and though she never quite stole the Style Queen crown from Cheryl Cole, to us, she’s always been ‘the stylish one from Girls Aloud’.

We love that she embraced red hair, that she made pale actually interesting and that she’s not afraid of a bit of Westwood flare.

And hell, we love a fairytale as much as the next Disney Princess, but we draw the line at ankle-skimming plaits.

But so it was that Nicola Roberts decided to do her best Rapunzel impression at G-A-Y over the weekend, wearing a lip-printed T-shirt, multi-coloured diamond check hotpants – complete with a pom pom hem and oversized versions on the bum – pink and orange tiger print boots and the longest plait we’ve ever seen.

Ok, so it’s G-A-Y, we get there needs to be a certain level of eccentricity, but the booties and super-sized plait ruin what is, for us, an otherwise brilliantly fun look.
