Has Crystal Renn lost too much weight at the Metropolitan Opera?

28th September 2011 9:57 am

Crystal Renn’s weight has yo-yoed more than the child’s toy throughout her career as the most successful plus-size model, and though the past year has seen her slim down somewhat, last night she showed off her skinniest figure for some time.

Renn displayed her new small frame in a slinky gold sequin fishtail gown from Zac Posen’s resort 2012 collection – possibly outdoing Coco Rocha in the drama department – at the Metropolitan Opera last night.

Gone are her signature curvaceous hips and buxom legs, and in their place are chiselled cheekbones, a strong jawline and a prominent collar bone.

We’ve witnessed a lot of commentary – and criticism – of Crystal’s weight, and we’ve thrown in our two-pence worth in the past, too, so we’re wary of saying too much here, but Renn finds herself in an unfortunate position where putting on weight results in fat rants from industry facists (and we dare say loses her work) and losing it causes a public outcry.

So what we’ll say is this: there’s no denying she looks incredible in these pics, and as long as she’s healthy, which she appears to be, we’re all for it.
