Janelle Monàe embraces her girly side in Essence magazine

18th October 2011 11:52 am

Popstar and style icon Janelle Monàe graces the pages of November’s Essence magazine for a gorgeous eight-page editorial spread, showcasing her timeless look in a variety of stunning poses.

Although Ms Monàe is a sucker for all things monochrome, we love seeing her wearing a splash of colour too, proving that she really can pull just about anything off. She continues to show her versatility by embracing her girly side too, in a beautiful black dress with lots of added sparkle to boot. Can’t argue with a bit of sparkle!

Janelle may be an important figure in the fashion world (apparently the house of Chanel can’t seem to get enough of her) but her main talents lie in the music industry. Prince and Stevie Wonder have famously asked her to perform with them, but more recently, she sang for the President of the United States of America Barrack Obama. The singer performed Tightrope, Smile and I Want You Back at the White House State Dinner for South Korea at the request of Barack and Michelle Obama themselves.

We predict that her career will continue to soar in both music and fashion; check out her Essence spread below.
