Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has topped the British Harper’s Bazaar Best Dressed List 2011, pipping Florence Welch and Kate Moss to the post for the coveted title.

“She gave us the year’s – if not the century’s – most thrilling fashion moment,” said Harper’s editor Lucy Yeomans about Kate’s Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress.

The judges also praised Duchess Catherine’s ability to wear high end fashion pieces from Alexander McQueen to Jenny Packham and high street pieces such as her beloved L.K Bennett shoes and failsafe Reiss pieces, with the same ease, elegance and effortlessness.

The panel described Kate’s style as an “incredible style evolution that has gripped us all.”

20 women who the judges thought truly represented British style were selected, with Florence Welch, Andrea Riseborough and Kate Moss coming second, third and fourth respectively. Keira Knightley, Stella McCartney and Alexa Chung also made the top 10.
