Valentino… coming to a computer screen near you!

22nd November 2011 11:41 am

Despite having retired from his eponymous fashion label in 2008, Valentino Garavani and his long-term business partner Giancarlo Giammetti are still highly involved in the brand’s future projects, with the latest one being an online virtual museum!

Valentino is boldly going where no big designer has gone before, as he is creating a downloadable desktop application, ‘The Garavani Virtual Museum’, which will showcase the brilliant work of the fashion house in every detail.

“I see it as part of my legacy,” Valentino said. “I am happy that thousands of students, young designers and fashion people will be able to see and study my work in every aspect of it, and in a manner easy and accessible for the younger generations. But it is also important to remember things of the past, to review the fashion that has shaped our lives. I would call it ‘Future Memory’.”

You would think a Savage Beauty style retrospective would be more appropriate for a fashion house of such magnitude and success, but we applaud the decision to try something different and give everyone around the world the chance to closely study the brilliant work of Valentino.

The application will officially launch on Monday December 5th and will consist of 5,000 images of dresses, illustrations and photographs, as well as 95 fashion show videos. We’re impressed and excited; are you?

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
