Dolce and Gabbana’s menswear spring/summer 2012 campaign inspired by Italian cinema

22nd December 2011 9:25 am

Dolce and Gabbana is paying homage to Italian cinema for its spring/summer 2012 menswear campaign, so instead of using traditional male models, it has instead chosen to use famous Italian actors. What a charming idea – and the results are fabulous!

“The photos are intentionally candid and reminiscent of scenes from an Italian-style comedy, where actors portray life in a Southern Italian village: a baptism, Sunday with the family, a portrait with mother, at the bar with friends, afternoons at the beach, courting the village beauty, guy talk, a stolen kiss on the docks and a birthday party with relatives,” reads a press release from Dolce and Gabbana.

The actors in question are Giuseppe Fiorello, Francesco Scianna, Filippo Nigro, Thomas Trabacchi, Primo Reggiani and Chiara Francini, who have all done a marvelous job of posing for Dolce and Gabbana fave Mariano Vivanco.

We think these ads really stand out and we love how Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana embraced their roots. Top marks from us, what do you guys make of them?
