Candice Swanepoel poses for Prabal Gurung’s spring/summer 2012 ads

Candice Swanepoel, is that you? The Victoria’s Secret beauty looks virtually unrecogniseable with her darkened locks, porcelain skin and ruby lips in Prabal Gurung’s spring/summer 2012 ad campaign, although her bedazzling blue eyes and signature pout give her away!

When we saw Prabal Gurung’s romantic, playful lavender designs floating down the runway for the first time, we envisioned the ad campaign following suit. We didn’t imagine the campaign – which was shot by Daniel Jackson – would consist of lots of writhing and almost contortionist-type posing, although we can’t say we don’t love it. It’s so simple, yet so well thought out and executed, and is perfect for showcasing the movement of the pieces.

Given the extreme acrobatics and flexibility in some of the ad campaigns we’ve been seeing recently (remember Chanel?), we think modelling agencies should start making “adequate gymnastic experience” a requirement when it comes to signing new faces, don’t you?

About us

Welcome to My Fashion Life!

Launched in 2003 My Fashion Life is one of the UK’s leading top fashion blogs. Recognised for combining all the quality content you’d expect to find in an online magazine with the honest opinion and tone of a blog.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
