The domestic goddess is back for the spring season with a vengeance. It’s no longer about the softly dressed, apron donning 50s housewife anymore, but her sharper edged alter ego. She’s back with a doting affection for pop pastels, print and sharp primness rather than the baking kit.

Think pop pastels, knee length fit and flare dresses and statement crystal jewels. We love that she takes both the fashion stakes and the kitchen by storm and has an air of rebellion about her – she won’t lift a single pan because the new season isn’t about submitting to the rules, but rather bending them backwards.

For spring summer 2012, the mid century modern aesthetic ruled, and it meant a fun revival of 50s retro style, with Jason Wu, Prada and Erdem all playing to the tune of the 50s housewife with a heavenly wardrobe.

For this week’s Runway to Bedroom Mirror we’ve selected pieces that exude femininity while at the same time deliver on the fun factor. Enjoy playing domestic goddess, even it it’s for a little while, without having to set foot in the kitchen!
