Derek Lam steps down as Tod’s creative director

13th March 2012 9:53 am

It’s just been announced that Derek Lam has stepped down as Tod’s creative director after an impressive six years with the Italian leather goods brand.

Every time we see the words ‘creative director’ in a news report these days, we can’t help but think it’s being linked to Christian Dior, but we won’t get ahead of ourselves just yet and assume he is also in the running for John Galliano‘s job. Would be good though, wouldn’t you agree?

There are currently no reported reasons why Derek Lam has left Tod’s, although it’s speculated that he wanted more time to focus on his eponymous label. An announcement is expected to be made later this week, so watch this space.

We wonder who his successor will be… any ideas?

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
