Have you ever had an embarrassing moment when you lifted your arm up to hail a cab, high five a friend or bust a move on the dance floor and noticed a patch of armpit hair starting to sprout?

I don’t know about other ladies, but I just can’t stand armpit hair. Mine grows in thick and prickly and I hate the way it looks and feels. I would be mortified if anyone saw me with armpit hair sticking out. I also don’t like the itchy feeling it has when I haven’t removed it.

Also, I’m not sure if there is any scientific basis to this but I think it is harder to control body odour when you have not removed your underarm hair. I think there is something about the hair which
traps sweat and odour, which is pretty gross if you ask me.

No matter what, I try to make sure that my armpit hair is kept as smooth as possible at all times. That way, if I ever feel like wearing a sleeveless top or dress I can do so without feel self-conscious.

The great thing is that there are plenty of ways to take care your underarm hair right in the privacy of your own home, so you don’t need to make an appointment at a salon. Here are some of the
different ways that you can remove armpit hair at home:

Laser or IPL Hair Removal

It is possible to obtain professional laser or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) home hair removal kits which you can use yourself. These methods use concentrated light to target the hairs and kill them at the base of the follicle so that they don’t grow back.

Make sure that you read the instructions carefully so that you know exactly how many sessions to perform and how many weeks to wait in between each session, because these high tech devices can hurt if used improperly. These devices will not remove all of the hair permanently the first time because each hair will be at a different point in its growing cycle, however with six or eight treatments you will usually find yourself permanently hairless!

Remember that laser hair removal and IPL works better on people with a light skin tone and dark hair. Darker skin can blister and burn when using the device.

Hair Removal Creams

Hair removal creams, also known as depilatories, break down the hair above the skin’s surface so that you can easily wipe it off. These creams are a lot easier than shaving because you just apply
them and let them do their thing and then simply wipe them off.

Before using a hair removal cream, make sure that you test it on your skin to find out if you are allergic to it. These creams are very strong and can be harsh on sensitive skin. When you have
applied the cream, wipe off a small area to see if it is doing its job and removing the hair before you remove it from the total area.

Shaving

This is one of the simplest and easiest ways to remove your underarm hair and it doesn’t involve any harsh chemicals or lasers. However, it will only last for a day or two maximum and your underarm stubble will start creeping back in on you.

For best results, wait for 5 minutes into your shower to let the hot water soften your skin and hair. Use a good quality razor and a gentle shaving cream.

These are three of the ways that you can get rid of your underarm hair at home so that it will not embarrass you anymore.

Here’s to smooth and sexy armpits!
