Autumn/Winter 2012 review – Façonnable womenswear

5th September 2012 3:04 am

Promising a ‘sensual and functional’ womenswear line-up for autumn/winter 2012, French brand Façonnable have offered just that: pieces with allure and a sense of wearability, that’ll see you through the fashion seasons.

Employing four different sources of inspiration in carving the autumn/winter 2012 collection – Legionnaire: The English Patient; Downtown Fisherman; Englishman in Grasse and Sartorial, – the new season Façonnable woman is allowed to pick and choose her ideal pieces from each style category to create a wardrobe that spans trends, function and a modern elegance – the ethos of Façonnable.

Military influences, thanks to the French Foreign Legion (Legionnaires), introduce clean lines in neutral hues such as olive drab, tobacco, and stone, taking the form of structured trenches, a funnel neck belted coat and layering essentials, including cropped slouch sweaters and delicate button down shirts.

Bringing an updated edge to outerwear, the Downtown Fisherman collection promises rugged pieces with a touch of luxe. Think leather-patched and shearling fur lined pea coats, and silk and jersey dresses – definitely a collection for the outdoorsy fashion maven who loves to undertake an adventure in style.

An Englishman imagined in tweeds and prince of Wale jackets finding his way in the hamlet of Grasse translates into womenswear as houndstooth wool and cotton blend, and classic cocoon-shaped outerwear that exudes femininity through print and definition with cinched-in waists.

The Sartorial collection for women introduces cashmere, fine wools and luxe silk blend pieces into the wardrobe – perfect for refreshing your core wardrobe with pieces that evade replacement each season.

The autumn/winter 2012 collection is classic, well-crafted and wearable, offering something for every taste and delivering functionality with just enough femininity.

Hero pieces: Tie Print Silk Shirt (£122.45); Crew Neck Back Buttoning Cashmere Sweater (£391); Bold Striped Pea Coat (£470).
