It’s business as usual on Planet Celebrity as the stars have been bending over backwards with their red carpet sartorial efforts. And this week’s Fash-off has us torn between two shades of blue on two stunning ladies.

Charlotte Casiraghi, granddaughter of Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco, (in case you were wondering, y’know) sported a form-fitting, cobalt blue Gucci gown with cut out detailing for the 2nd Annual Gucci Award for Women in Cinema.

It was only fitting the amateur show-jumper and dedicated equestrian, whose show-jumping career is sponsored by Gucci, and she appears in the brand’s Forever Now campaign, would don a stunning dress Frida Giannini specially crafted for her. Look-at-me earrings and a Gucci stingray clutch (natch) completed her look.

On the other side of the blue spectrum, Anglo-American actress and leading lady in the soon-to-be-released The Sweeney, Hayley Atwell, decided to take an oceanic view to dressing and rocked up to the London premiere of the film in a turquoise, Spring 2012 Emilio Pucci lace dress. Completing her eye-opening bright look was a Lulu Guinness ‘Lips’ clutch (a rather fitting, quirkily British touch), and Charlotte Olympia pumps.

Here’s what we thought…

Fashion News Ed, Maria says:

You can’t really go wrong with a bit of Gucci on the red carpet – especially if you work so closely with the brand. Just look at Blake Lively for proof! I love this colour on Charlotte- it complements her hair and skin tone beautifully and the earrings really bring out the electric tones of the dress. Magical! I love the subtle cutaway detailing too as it brings just the right amount of sexiness to the look without overdoing it. Well, if you have the body (which she definitely does) then you’d be a fool not to flaunt it.

It’s a toughie this week because even though I am head over heels in love with Charlotte’s look, I think Hayley nailed it too. Just goes to show how powerful blue really is on the red carpet, especially when teamed with a good bold lip and statement (but not distracting) accessories.

I do actually prefer Hayley’s accessories as I am a sucker for a Lulu Guinness clutch but Charlotte is my winner this week.

Features Editor, Farhana says:

Charlotte Casiraghi maybe a blue-blooded beauty, but fashion royalty she is not! Well not in this instance, anyway. I feel she looks a little awkward in the Gucci gown, which by the way is STUNNING, but ill-fitting. Charlotte has an envy-inducing lithe body we all want, but her washboard build does no favours for this gown! Top marks for classically beautiful accessories – statement earrings always have me at hello – but the shoe choice is too stocky for this look. A classic case of right dress, wrong moment!

Hayley Atwell’s Emilio Pucci dress was a safe choice, although it delivered a much needed dose of colour on the red carpet. Well, the red in that carpet can be quite the attention grabber on occasion! I do like the length of the dress, the beautiful embellishment around the neck and the neutral accessories that allow the dress to shine alone.

Even though I love Charlotte’s Gucci gown, it’s Hayley’s lace dress and power pout that have bowled me over! She’s my winner this week.

The Fash-off champion:

It’s a tie! The fashion ladies can’t quiet reach an agreement, so both Charlotte and Hayley are hailed as this week’s fash-off champions. We blame the blinding blue tones and too-hot-to-choose-between dresses!
