Anna Wintour’s Runway to Win raised $40 million for Barack Obama’s campaign

Whoever said fashion and politics don’t mix has some serious reconsidering to do…

Remember that Runway to Win initiative (the brainchild of Anna Wintour) that we told you about a few months ago? Well it only went and raised a staggering $40 million in total for Barack Obama’s campaign!

If your memories are a bit iffy, allow us to summarise. A host of celebs and designers teamed up to create all sorts of fashionable items ranging from t-shirts to bags to raise money for Obama’s campaign. Beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane von Furstenberg  and Prabal Gurung were just a few of the famous faces who took part…

We think it’s safe to say that it was a roaring success as the $40 million contributed rather nicely to Obama’s whopping $637.3 million total. Even though Anna Wintour spearheaded the Runway to Win collaboration, let’s not forget that she also lent her support to the President by hosting all those star studded fundraisers. See, it isn’t just the fashion world that owes a lot to the Vogue editor!

Welcome to My Fashion Life!

Launched in 2003 My Fashion Life is one of the UK’s leading top fashion blogs. Recognised for combining all the quality content you’d expect to find in an online magazine with the honest opinion and tone of a blog.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
