It’s official: Alexander Wang in at Balenciaga

Well the guessing game is over – Alexander Wang has been named as the new Creative Director of Balenciaga, and will officially take the reins from tomorrow! He will replace Nicolas Ghesquière, who has been at the helm of the brand for 15 years.

We only told you that the New York designer’s name was thrown into the equation yesterday, so we haven’t really had time to sit down and think about it properly. However, if the success of his own read-to-wear and diffusion T by Alexander Wang collections are anything to go by, we think he’s going to do wonders for Balenciaga. What do you guys make of his appointment?

According to WWD, we can expect an official statement next week. Do we think Alexander will bring his edgy and androgynous craftsmanship to Balenciaga or will he take the brand in a whole new direction? Not long to find out!
